Joran Van Der Sloot Retracts His Confession

In a Joran van der Sloot total shocker, the 22-year-old has retracted the confession he gave to police in Peru about killing Stephany Flores. And when I say “shocker,” I mean that it was totally expected as it’s the exact same thing he did in the Holloway case—confess and then deny. A reporter from the Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf, interviewed van der Sloot in his prison cell. “I was tricked,” van der Sloot said about the confession he gave. “I was very scared and confused during the interrogations and wanted to get away. In my blind panic, I signed everything, but didn’t even know what it said.” [NY Post] Keep reading »

Quotable: Joran Van Der Sloot Was “Prince Charming” To His Ex

“He was amazing. He was romantic. … [Our relationship] was very playful, very honest. We could sit and talk for hours. We liked looking into each other’s eyes. … I told him I liked red Skittles, and what he did was he made this vase at school, went and bought a lot of Skittles packets, he took all the red ones out, and as a present I got a vase full of red Skittles. He did things like that he was real thoughtful. [But] he would lie for no apparent reason at all, and if you caught him at it, he would double down and be even more serious about the story.”

—Melody Granadillo tells “20/20″ about her “Prince Charming,” ex-boyfriend Joran van der Sloot, whom she fell for in 2003. He’s now in prison in Peru after confessing to the murder of Stephany Flores Ramirez and is still the leading suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway [NY Post] Keep reading »

Joran Van Der Sloot Confesses To Killing Stephany Flores Ramirez

I bet you guys didn’t see this one coming—and yes, that is sarcasm. Joran Van Der Sloot, the 22-year-old Dutch dude who was long thought to be involved in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in 2005, has confessed to killing Stephany Flores Ramirez, the 21-year-old daughter of a prominent Peruvian business man and former presidential candidate. Ramirez’s body was found in a hotel room at the Hotel Tac in Lima on June 2nd, half dressed and covered in a sheet. The room was registered to Van Der Sloot, who had already taken off for Chile when the body was found. Authorities picked him up—he is also wanted for extortion—and brought him back to Peru where he gave a tearful confession last night. “I did not want to do it,” he said. “The girl intruded into my private life.”

Joran Van Der Sloot A Murder Suspect. Again.

Joran Van Der Sloot, 22, has the world’s creepiest name. And he’s a suspect in a murder trial. Again. If his name sounds familiar, it’s because this Dutch dude was arrested twice in connection with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, once shortly after she disappeared during a graduation trip to Aruba in 2005 and again in 2007. In 2008, a Dutch reporter recorded Van Der Sloot allegedly telling a friend how he hid Holloway’s body (which hasn’t been found)—but Van Der Sloot has denied that was what he was referring to.

Now Stephany Flores Ramirez, the 21-year-old daughter of Peruvian racecar driver Ricardo Flores, is missing — and she was last seen with Van Der Sloot. Keep reading »
