“Imma let you finish but … ”
Aubrey Plaza didn’t actually say those words, but last night, onstage at the MTV Movie Awards, it was deja vu: she rushed onstage while Will Ferrell accepted his “Comedic Genius” Award and tried to pull the award out of his hands, before awkwardly stumbling back to her seat.
Publicity stunt for her new movie (which was scrawled across her chest in black sharpie)? Too much Hennessey on the red carpet? If this little incident was staged, I feel like Peter Dinklage — who was standing in the background after presenting Ferrell with his award — would have been involved somehow. And the look on Aubrey’s face when she plopped back in her seat, sans drink, looked kinda “Oh my God, what have I done?” to me.
MTV says it was definitely not planned and that Aubrey Plaza was escorted from the show after the incident. What say you? [Entertainment Weekly, MTV News]
Who says a 10-year-old doesn’t know how to liven up an after party? Check out Oscar nominee Quvenzhane Wallis challenging another youngster to a dance-off at a post-MTV Movie Awards party last night. Thank goodness she put down her signature puppy purse, because things got serious. [HyperVocal]
Last night was the MTV Movie Awards, which I didn’t watch because I am an adult. But I did hear that Taylor Lautner beat out Channing Tatum for Best Shirtless Moment, so I think that just about sums about how seriously this particular award show should be taken by those of us who consider filmmaking an art form. I mean, really. In what world? Anyhoo, let’s review who was there and what they wore with a round of Hits, Misses and Superlatives!
Last night, I was too busy watching “Game Of Thrones” (White Walkers!) and “Mad Men” (Holy crap!) to watch the MTV Movie Awards. But this morning, I’m sick in bed, the perfect place from which to assess the looks worn on the red carpet — the most important part anyway, let’s face it.
It’s funny. I always thought I despised the red carpet arrival specials that proceed most awards shows and are a flurry of what-are-you-wearing questions. But for last night’s MTV Movie Awards, the network decided to do away with this tradition. Instead, they aired the season finale of “America’s Best Dance Crew” and then dropped us straight into the awards show with a “Hangover 2” spoof. It felt like there was no wind up, no anticipation built. Let’s just say that I will never roll my eyes at another red carpet special again, as I now see that they serve a purpose.
Overall, last night’s MTV Movie Awards seemed a little … flat. Jason Sudeikis‘ jokes elicited scowls rather than laughter. The presenter pairings—always people starring in a movie together—felt a little shillfesty. And almost all of the awards for the night went to the same movie—”Twilight: Eclipse“—a problem since the cast members didn’t seem to even want them.
But that said, there were some great moments, too. After the jump, the five best and worst moments. Keep reading »
“Friends With Benefits” co-stars — and occasional rumored hookup buddies — Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis got handsy at last night’s MTV Movie Awards. I would like to officially endorse them as a couple. Get on that, kids. Keep reading »
Okay Twi-hards and Potterheads, the battle is on in the 2011 MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss category. Let’s just say it’s not looking like Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have an easy third win this year.
Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson are rumored to be giving the real-life “Twilight” couple a run for their popcorn.
So who should take home the prize? Let’s take a look back at previous lip-lockin’ victors. Read more… Keep reading »
The MTV Movie Awards are coming up this Sunday and the network is busy promoting the Jason Sudeikis-hosted affair. One of the tidbits MTV is touting in hopes of pulling in viewers? The fact that during the show, they will premiere a teaser trailer for “Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1” which will bring us inside Bella and Edward‘s wedding. And so they created this teaser trailer to promote that teaser trailer. Consider it a sneak peek of the sneak peak. [EW] Keep reading »
Jason Sudeikis—aka the “Saturday Night Live” star and maybe father of January Jones’ unborn baby—is hosting the 2011 MTV Movie Awards. To build some hype for the show, he’s done a series of videos where he awkwardly introduces himself to the nominees. In this video, he stands in for Kristen Stewart‘s hair stylist, threatening to give her a bowl cut.
After the jump, see him pop up as Leighton Meester’s dentist. Happy gas abounds. Keep reading »
