Did Queen Latifah Get Photoshopped Thinner In Her “Just Wright” Poster?

I was poking around on Apple’s iTunes Movie Trailers site this weekend, when I noticed the poster for Queen Latifah and Common‘s new movie, “Just Wright,” looked a little, well, just wrong. I know the Queen is a Jenny Craig spokeswoman and has lost some weight over the past couple of years, but this much? The angle is flattering, and it’s hard to tell with Common’s arms wrapped around her. Still, it looks to me like someone has gone in, thinned her up, and given her a boob-lift. Sure, this is the Hollywood way of doing things, but it feels lame, especially considering Queen Latifah seems like one of those people who would actually not really care about what anyone thought of her body but herself. Decide for yourself after the jump. Keep reading »

We’d Like To Watch “You Again” With Our Mom

It’s too bad “You Again” doesn’t hit theaters until September, because seeing it would make a totally fun mother-daughter outing for Mother’s Day. In the film Kristen Bell stars as Marni, a young woman who seems to have her life together … until she discovers that her brother is marrying her high school arch nemesis. Hilarity ensues, especially when Marni’s mom (Jamie Lee Curtis) gets a visit from her high school rival, the fiancée’s aunt (Sigourney Weaver). Unfortunately for those of us with high school reunions coming up, the movie proves that no matter how fabulous you’ve become, you can’t escape who you used to be, even if you’ve gotten rid of your awkwardness, zits, and glasses. New “Sex And The City 2″ Trailer Looks Less Than Boring

Even if you feel like “Sex and the City” should call it quits already, the people behind the show and movies sure know how to cause a spectacle. We saw the teaser for the second movie back in December, but it didn’t reveal much in the way of plot lines and we were like, whatever. But now that we’ve seen bits of what’s going to happen — Charlotte’s tired of her kids! Aidan returns! Penelope Cruz does something! Naughty things happen in the desert! — we’re sort of excited. Most likely, the movie will be cheesy (Miley Cyrus makes an appearance, after all), but we’ll round up our pals and make a trip to the theater because it’ll be an event — one that will be preceded by cocktails, of course. New Poster & Action-Packed Trailer For “The A-Team”

If there ever were a moment to speed up time, now would be it. I need June 11 to get here stat because that’s the day “The A-Team” movie premieres. I rolled my eyes when I heard a 2010 version of the hit show was in the works. But when I saw the cast — Liam Neeson as Col. John “Hannibal” Smith, Bradley Cooper as Lt. Templeton “Faceman” Peck, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as Sgt. Bosco “B.A.” Baracus, and Sharlto Copley as Capt. “Howling Mad” Murdock — I thought this could be good. Now that I’ve seen the trailer, I know it’s going to be great. It has everything a girl could want in an action flick: rebellion against the military, creative prison breaks, and things that go boom. And looking at “The A-Team” poster above, I really think the actors capture the original characters rather well. Check out the trailer after the jump and tell me what you think. Keep reading »

Prepare To Sob During “The Greatest,” Starring Carey Mulligan

I know I said “Eat Pray Love” looks good earlier today, but I take that back. “Eat Pray Love” looks OK, and “The Greatest” looks really, really good. I was practically in tears just watching this trailer. Carey Mulligan plays a young woman who gets pregnant, and after the father dies, she goes to live with his family, who initially doesn’t treat her very warmly. “The Greatest” comes out April 2. OK, Now We’re Excited For “Eat Pray Love,” Starring Julia Roberts

Check out the first trailer for “Eat Pray Love,” based on Elizabeth Gilbert‘s book. While I usually dislike movies made from books, I must admit: I think it looks pretty darn good. The cast includes plenty of eye candy (James Franco, Javier Bardem, Billy Crudup), and this could be one of Julia Roberts‘ best roles. (I also appreciated hearing Florence & the Machine’s song “Dog Days Are Over” in the background.) Keep reading »

“Robin Hood” Is Going To Steal The Hearts Of Summer Audiences

I haven’t felt this excited about a historical epic film since watching trailers for 2000′s “Gladiator,” which I saw twice in theaters and dozens of times on DVD after that. And it’s no surprise the latest version of “Robin Hood” reminds me of “Gladiator” because it stars Russell Crowe and was directed by Ridley Scott. Although I really enjoy “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves” and have been known to say “Damned English oak” in my best Morgan Freeman Moorish accent, I know Scott’s version of this “rob from the rich to give to the poor” tale is going to be so much better. Robin’s love interest, the Lady Marian, is played by Cate Blanchett, and even she gets in on some of the action as Robin and his gang battle against the despotic sheriff and ineffective new king. Marian isn’t running around trying to keep the sheriff from raping her as in “Prince of Thieves,” and we don’t have to witness any hokey romance between Robin and her. Plus, special effects are way better than they were in the ’90s, and Scott is a master at capturing fight and battle scenes. “Robin Hood” hits theaters May 14. Keep reading »
