The first trailer is out for the new film “Dallas Buyers Club.” The movie is based on the true story of Ron Woodruff, a Texas man who was diagnosed with AIDS and given less than a month to live. Rather than accepting his death sentence, Woodroof went to extreme lengths to find and smuggle medication from Mexico. Eventually, Woodroof began selling those meds to other sufferers and created what became the Dallas Buyers Club. Matthew McConaughey plays Woodruff, and underwent a startling transformation, dropping more than 5o pounds for the part. Our boyfriend Jared Leto plays Rayon, an HIV+ trans woman who goes into business with McConaughey.
Even watching the three minute trailer made me tear up, you guys. This movie is going to be so heartbreaking, but so necessary to see. It’s not often that we see HIV/AIDS being represented in major film and television shows, and it seems clear that McConaughey and Leto really committed to their roles. Tears! So many tears! The official trailer for “Catching Fire,” the sequel to “The Hunger Games” (based on the book trilogy), debuted at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend and it is WOW. Keep your eyes peeled for a first look at the Arena, some awesome Capital fashions and lots and lots and lots of action. Will it be better than the first movie? Signs point to yes…
Dear the movie “Adore,” starring Naomi Watts and Robin Wright,
Let me start by saying that I’m not here as another social media troll who just wants to make fun of your semi-absurd plot. That would just be too easy. I know that you didn’t just turn the satirical “Mother Lover” into a pouty, melodramatic screenplay. After all, I just Googled that your director is French and your writer is British, so they could have been clueless to its existence. However, because we are friends here, I feel it’s only fair to warn you that you’re going to eat a lot of shit for this. I mean, a lot.
You see, if you’ve been on planet Earth lately, you know that the “Saturday Night Live” music video starring Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake went viral a few years back. In it, they don bad ’80s garb and monstrous chin straps while cheering on each other on their crooning quest for mother loving. Keep reading »
My boyfriend’s back! No, not my real boyfriend, but my fantasy magical unicorn boyfriend, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This time, he’s beefed up and thrown on a real thick Jersey accent to play the title character in “Don Jon,” a movie about a porn-addicted goomba who falls in love with a slightly questionable bangin’ Jerz chick (played by Scarlett Johannson). Can the love of a good woman get him to change his ways? (Spoiler alert: duh.) Both are playing a bit against type, which should be fun to watch. So check out the trailer for the movie — which JGL also wrote and directed — if only to see JGL sing along to Marky Mark’s “Good Vibrations.” Funky bunch, indeed. [YouTube]
Someone up there must be looking out for me, because there are so many amazing movies about teenagers behaving badly in my future! As if I wasn’t already psyched enough about “Spring Breakers” hitting theaters on the 22nd, the first teaser trailer for “The Bling Ring,” the Sofia Coppola-directed film based on the true tale of a band of wealthy, fame-hungry L.A. teenagers who robbed multiple celebrity residences back in 2009, came out on Friday. Naturally, it is 56 seconds of pure dark, sleazy bliss. The movie looks completely, outlandishly ridiculous, and I am so in. God, I love watching Hermione get all slutty! [YouTube]
What can be said about the new “Les Miserables” film that hasn’t already been said? Let’s ask Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope of Insane Clown Posse and Psychopathic Records. Does it feature “Gladiator vs. Wolverine”? Yes, yes it does. Is it about the miserable? Well, yes it is. And is the best part of the film a cameo of an elephant butt? Perhaps!
Watch this clip to find out whether ICP — and you — will be heading to the theaters opening day. (Answer for J and Shaggy 2 Dope: Not likely, though Violent J “does like musicals.”)
