What’s the absolute worst thing you can do as a mother? Oh, I don’t know … TRY TO SELL YOUR BABY. Like 33-year-old Bridget Wismer of Delaware (pictured above), who was charged with felony child dealing when she allegedly tried to sell her newborn son to a gay couple for $15,000. And she did all of this for a crummy trip to Disney World.
Whatever crappy things your mother did to you, you can take comfort in the fact that she didn’t try to sell you so she could go to Disney World. At least, I hope she didn’t. This Mother’s Day be grateful that one of these ladies is not your mother. Click through to see the worst of the worst.
We were thinking over here at The Frisky: No one gives better advice than a mom (well, 90 percent of the time). That’s why we’re offering up our moms to give you guidance. They’ve done a good job for us, and we think they can do the same for you. If you need the kind of solid advice that only a mother can give, send your questions to firstname.lastname@example.org. After the jump, meet the experts … we mean our mothers. Keep reading »
There are confessions and then there are CONFESSIONS. You won’t believe some of the stuff that the members of CafeMom are willing to spill publically (as long as they don’t have to use their real names:). Mostly because they know other moms have either done some of them, or at least contemplated doing them very seriously. Hey, we are only human!
We’re not sure what’s more unbelievable — the confessions themselves or the way some readers reacted to them.
Here are 25 pretty shocking parenting choices moms confessed to making, and some reader reactions. Some you can imagine … but some may surprise you. Read more …
It can be hard to shop for our moms — they always claim that they don’t want nor need anything, which really doesn’t leave us with many options. So what do you get for the woman who has everything? Beauty products, duh. Your mom might be the earthy type who isn’t interested in makeup or material possessions … and she’s probably better for it. But for the rest of them, the ones who, like us, can’t wait to get their hands on the latest product or are always researching the latest anti-aging innovations (regardless of how often you tell her she doesn’t look a day over 25), the possibilities are endless. Whether your mom is a lipstick girl, a bonafide beauty aficionado, or just a lady who loves a great scent, we have a gift for you. She’s going to love it.
This Mother’s Day we’d like to take a moment to recognize our mothers for all the love they bestowed upon us, all the wisdom they imbued us with, and most of all, for the weird fears they attempted to instill in us. Whether they managed to turn us or not is a different story. Some we embraced (we agree that it is important to unplug your flatiron so as not to burn the house down), and some we vehemently rejected (tampons are perfectly safe to use). But we respect their perseverance in trying to make us accept their irrational truths as our own. Check out the bizarre fears our mothers taught us to have after the jump. Keep reading »
With Mother’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about the perfect gift to match your mom’s unique lifestyle. If your mom is happiest when she’s covered in paint, sculpting with clay, or writing her latest collection of poetry, then you probably have what I like to refer to as an Artsy Fartsy Mom. Here are six gift ideas to delight and inspire those creative mommas out there …
To celebrate Mother’s Day, we thought it would be fun to put together some style inspiration boards that pay homage to our favorite fashionable moms from pop culture. And who better to kick things off than the winking, manipulating, martini-swilling, Motherboy-winning matriarch Lucille Bluth? Check out how to get her WASP-y style for yourself, after the jump … Keep reading »
Maybe it was her special chicken dish. Maybe it was her rice and beans. Maybe it was the hot cocoa she made after you came in from playing in the snow. Everyone’s mom had some special recipe that brings you back home whenever you eat it. In honor of Mother’s Day (May 13, don’t forget or you are in big trubs!), we’re asking Frisky readers to send us their favorite recipe from Mom — or, you know, a suitable maternal-like figure — and a pic if you’ve got one. Email it to Jessica@TheFrisky.com with “Mother’s Day Recipes” in the headline and we’ll collect them all in one massive gallery of tasty childhood nostalgia. Mom will be so proud!
