New Mom Snooki Is Sleep-Deprived & Loving It!

It sounds like baby Lorenzo’s first night home was a long one, but his adoring mom Snooki isn’t complaining: “Hardly any sleep but SO worth it!” she Tweeted to her friends and followers today.

The 24-year-old Jersey Shore star and her fiance Jionni LaValle welcomed their son Lorenzo Dominic just yesterday, and congratulations were quick to pour in.

“So proud of @snooki and @JLaValle! Lorenzo is the cutest baby I ever seen. Love him already,” Tweeted Snooki’s pal Jennifer “J Woww” Farley.  Read more …

Adult Film Star Stormy Daniels Talks About Being A Porn Star Parent

“I try to do something fun with her every day. I just consider myself to be especially blessed, and people who knock porn, well, it affords me to be with my daughter … [When she's old enough] I’ll tell her Mommy has a job that some people don’t approve of, but Mommy’s proud of it and it’s for adults … I wouldn’t encourage [her if she wants to go into the adult industry when she grows up.] It’s not because I would have a problem with what she was doing. My concern would be the way people would treat her. I just don’t want that for her.  It’s a lot to shoulder when you decide to be in this business. For every fan I have, there are 10 people who really think I should be dead.”

Stormy Daniels talks to the The Daily Beast about how porn stardom and motherhood co-mingle. You may remember Stormy as the adult actress who ran for Louisiana state Senate. Or the woman who was arrested for beating up her former husband back in 2009. Since all that hoopla died down, things have changed for Stormy. She found a new boyfriend, Glendon Crain, and the two started a family. What Stormy has to say on the subject is actually rather interesting. On the one hand, she’s not ashamed of her profession, but on the other, she understands how it might present difficulties for her daughter. I suggest you read the whole interview. There’s some other stuff she gets into about being scared that the other mothers will find out what she does for a living and punish her daughter for it. [The Daily Beast[Photo credit: Penthouse]

The death of Irish novelist Maeve Binchy earlier this week has inspired a lot of articles, most of them warm tributes to her kind heart, quick wit, and writing ability.

British novelist Amanda Craig took a different tack.

In a piece published today by The Telegraph, she wonders whether Binchy might have been a better writer if she had been a mother. The subtitle is even more blunt, asking: “Does a female novelist need to have experienced motherhood to truly understand human emotions?” Keep reading »

Adele Just Wants To Line Dance & Other Weirdo Pregnancy Cravings Of The Stars

We always knew Adele had a set of pipes, but it turns out she’s got dancing feet, too. The pregnant songstress was recently seen at a line-dancing class with some of her friends. Adele apparently picked up the country dance style after traveling throughout the U.S. and liked it so much she brought a line-dancing CD to bring home. That’s pretty ballsy for a seven-months-pregnant woman. But hey, whatever! She’s getting her exercise in. [The Sun UK]

Adele isn’t the only celeb doing something kinda-weird while she’s knocked up. Check out all the preggo celebs in Hollywood who had their pickles and ice cream on speed dial!

Single Mom Speaks
Rick Santorum can kiss this single, working mother's ass. Read More »

I just had the extreme displeasure of reading Elizabeth Wurtzel’s essay for The Atlantic, about how rich stay-at-home moms are “anti-feminist and helping make the ‘war on women’ possible.”  In the opener, Wurtzel says that she wants to “smack the next woman who says that raising her children full time—and by that means going to yoga classes and pedicure appointments while the nanny babysits —is her feminist choice.” Why yes, we’d all want to smack that woman too. Does she even exist?

To be honest, I seriously doubt that even the wealthy 1 percent women are going around making up excuses for why they don’t work—they’re rich enough not to, and surely don’t feel defensive about it. So it really seems that Wurtzel is just pissed that some women out there can afford what she perceives to be a life of leisure. She bashes them by saying people who don’t pay their own rent and bills are immature and anti-feminist. Actually, what Wurtzel is doing is immature and anti-feminist.  Sure, everyone is jealous of rich women from time to time, but to take a personal axe-to-grind and pretend it’s about feminism is a total joke. • Apparently some people are pissed off about a photograph of two Air Force servicewomen, Terran Echegoyen-McCabe and Christina Luna, breastfeeding their children in uniform, calling it a “disgrace.” What, soldiers aren’t supposed to have boobs (or babies)? Soldiers aren’t supposed to appear nurturing? Echegoyen-McCabe told MSNBC, “There isn’t a policy saying we can or cannot breast-feed in uniform. I think it’s something that every military mom who is breast-feeding has done.” The Air Force said it has no policy against breastfeeding in uniform, but released a statement urging “airmen” to project a “professional image at all times while in uniform.” Frankly, I think these photos are extremely cool! Zooey Deschanel & 10 Other Celebs Who Don’t See Kids In Their Futures

She may be a bit of a kid at heart, but Zooey Deschanel doesn’t want any of her own. ”[Having kids has] never been my focus,” she tells the current issue of Marie Claire. ”My sister was always very motherly, babysitting and stuff. I like kids, and I like being around kids–but it was never an ambition, something, like, I need … I like working. That’s what I like doing. I like to work.”

I have to say, I’ve been on the fence about Zooey for awhile, but this interview painted a pretty interesting picture of her. (She also spoke about getting spit on by a bully in middle school: “I really don’t know why she spit at me. I guess I wasn’t allowed to talk to her. I remember I couldn’t believe it.”) And she’s not alone in not wanting kids; plenty of successful Hollywood stars plan on staying rugrat-free. Here are 10 more!

Charlize Theron Never Knew She Needed That Little Sleep

Charlize Theron talks about juggling life as a single mother and having a rough childhood to Britain’s The Sun. On raising 6-month-old Jackson – she admits she gets little sleep.

She says, “I’ve never felt more creative and with more energy but on the tiniest amount of sleep. I never knew I needed that little sleep. I always had eight hours and now it’s, ‘Wow, OK, you can function on just four’. But Jackson is great. I’ve always been very aware of balance and, even before I had a child, my life always takes priority to my work.” Read more …

When you become a parent, one of the first things that you will learn is that everyone has an opinion about the way you choose to parent. From friends, family, your doctor, to strangers in line at the grocery store, everyone will impart their own unsolicited brand of wisdom — usually by telling you what you are doing wrong.

However, in the five years that I’ve been a mother, one thing I have learned is that there certainly isn’t one right way to parent. What works for one family might not work for another, and that’s okay. As long as kids are healthy, happy, and safe, do what you need to do.

But don’t think that coming to this realization will stop other people from judging you for your parenting choices.

The latest parenting trend under the microscope is Attachment Parenting (AP). Coined by pediatrician Dr. William Sears, this parenting philosophy promotes a handful of basic principles with the goal of fostering a healthy and secure bond between parents and children. While the principles of AP have been around for many years, the media has recently latched on to the less mainstream aspects of the philosophy in response to Hollywood celebs sharing glimpses into their apparently controversial parenting practices.
