I watched the ’80s classic “Better Off Dead” this weekend, and wow, hindsight really is 20/20. First off, it’s pretty clear that John Cusack’s character Lane Meyer is kind of an obsessive psycho when it comes to his girlfriend Beth. Um, hangers with her picture on them? Cuh-raaaaaazy. Second, Beth is pretty much a wet blanket, and it’s so obvious that Lane’s neighbor, exotically cool French foreign exchange student Monique, is a way better match. For one, she’s French. But also, she likes sports, and can fix a car, and can spot Lane’s major problem (that he gives up before even trying) from a mile away. Plus, her fashion is so, so good.
For most of the movie, she wears an oversized winter coat with a porkpie hat and a lot of boyish layers. Somehow it totally works, but we realize her look may not be for everyone, so we’ve updated the baggy boyish thing with some contemporary touches. Click through to see our interpretation. We knew there must have been a good reason why Mo’Nique didn’t pay the $370,000 in back rent that her Georgia landlord is suing her for. The actress says she had good reason: the place smelled like dog s**t, wet dog, and urine (not necessarily from a dog). It sounds like a regular zoo. Also, she claims the septic tank regularly overflowed (that would explain the feces and urine smells), there was a mold problem, and the security gate was busted. She is mad about the foul odors to counter-sue. I can’t blame her. Wet dog is like the worst smell in the whole world. It’s an automatic get out of rent free card if you ask me. [TMZ]
Dear Dating Mom:
I am dating a guy who loves a hairy woman. He likes hair on legs, underarms, and the vagina. My problem is that I am the total opposite. I have been removing hair on my body since the age of 12 and I really don’t think that I will feel sexy looking like King Kong.

Lately, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher have been ultra affectionate in public, trying to show the world that their marriage is not in danger amid rumors that Ashton cheated on Demi with a 21-year-old named Brittney Jones. But in a new interview, Brittney claims that Ashton wasn’t actually cheating when he allegedly had sex with her on a couch while Demi was out of town. “Ashton said he and Demi have an open relationship and have threesomes often,” Brittney explained. “I didn’t feel at all like he had just cheated on his wife. It felt normal and OK.” Then she contradicted herself and said, “[Ashton] said they share women, but he isn’t supposed to go off and sleep with women on his own. He said Demi had to be there and that Demi likes to pick the girls out.” [Huffington Post]
The source here is about as reliable as a used car salesman with the words “I lie” tattooed across his forehead. But is it possible that Demi and Ashton have an open relationship? It’s possible, as many celebrity couples have this arrangement or at least are rumored to. Find out who after the jump.
Few actresses could have portrayed a mom who abuses her daughter physically, verbally, and sexually with the nuance that Mo’Nique
showed in “Precious
.” Soon after making the movie, she explained what inspired her Oscar-winning performance—she was molested when she was a child by her older brother. Ever since, her brother, Gerald Imes, has denied her claims—even after serving 12 years in prison for molesting another unidentified girl. But yesterday, he sat down on Oprah
‘s couch to not only fess up, but to apologize to Mo’Nique. “I’m here today to first acknowledge that I’ve been in denial for 37 years,” he said. “I did assault and inappropriately touch my sister in manners that were uncomfortable for her. And for that, I apologize and I’m humbly sorry that those actions had taken place.” Keep reading »
Just when you thought it was safe to go back to depilating, it’s not! Fascinatingly, debates over body hair have been some of the most impassioned on The Frisky, from the girl who didn’t want to shave her legs to Mo’Nique’s hirsute parade down the red carpet. So, if you’re left undecided over whether you want to be furry like a Care Bear or hairless as a Sphynx, a design duo out of Helsinki called Tärähtäneet Ämmät is here to solve all your hair-related problems. Maybe you waxed, but now you want your hair back. Maybe you want to go smooth-legged by day, but stubble-calved by night. Whatever the case may be, this line of undergarments gives you back the hair you lost. After the jump, see the hairy underpants. Keep reading »
After her big Oscar win last night for Best Supporting Actress in “Precious,” Mo’Nique made her way backstage where she answered questions and joked around with reporters. When asked what would happen if more actresses stopped shaving their legs like her, Mo’Nique quipped: “They would win Oscars!” Oh, if only it were that easy, I think we’d be seeing lots more hair on the red carpet. Hairy legs or not, Mo’Nique looked beautiful in her royal blue silk jersey Tadashi Shoji gown, a color she chose because it was the color Hattie McDaniel, the first black actress to win an Academy Award (for “Gone With the Wind”), wore to accept her Oscar in the ’40s. Her flower hair clip was also the same flower Hattie donned when she won. Talk about a lucky charm! [via Us Weekly] Keep reading »
“He loves the hairy legs and if Sid likes the hairy legs, there you go. I tried shaving one time, and it was so uncomfortable and painful. I said never again would I do that to myself. I’m 42 and I’m very hairy.”
– Mo’Nique — who is sure to be rockin’ those hairy gams at Sunday’s Oscars — tells Barbara Walters that her husband likes her furry. I just love her, period. [DListed] Keep reading »
Let’s play Oscar psychic for a minute, OK? I have a pretty good idea of who is going to win this year’s Best Supporting Actress Award. My crystal ball says Mo’Nique—and not just because she won both the Golden Globe and SAG awards. See, the Academy is pretty darn predictable on who they decide to bestow with their gold-plated paperweights. For Best Actress they tend to go with America’s Sweetheart and for Best Actor they pick the guy with the most nominations under his belt already. But something very interesting happens in the Best Supporting Actress category. The Academy generally favors actresses who are fresh out of the gate—who are making their movie debut, or who landed their first big role. In other words, they like the Breakthrough Star.
Let’s take a stroll down the Best Supporting Actress memory lane. Keep reading »
