The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Is Ridiculous, As Usual

The Victoria’s Secret fashion show was last night, and it was bonkers. In between performances by Bruno Mars, Rihanna and Justin Bieber (whose presence seemed comically inappropriate), models like Miranda Kerr, Candace Swanepoel and Behati Prinsloo strutted their stuff on the runway. Every year, the Victoria’s Secret designers go out of their way to create totally outlandish and wild “sexy” costumes, and this latest runway show was no exception. Check out some of our favorite ridiculous looks (and a totally offensive “Native American” headdress), above!

“I had a nervous breakdown when I was 17 or 18, when I had to go and work with Marky Mark. It didn’t feel like me at all. I felt really bad about straddling this buff guy. I didn’t like it. I couldn’t get out of bed for two weeks. I thought I was going to die. I went to the doctor and he said, ‘I’ll give you some Valium.’

It was just anxiety. Nobody takes care of you mentally. There’s a massive pressure to do what you have to do (and) I was really little … I didn’t like it. But it was work, and I had to do it.”

– Kate Moss describes the effects of the photoshoot with Mark Wahlberg that produced an iconic Calvin Klein ad campaign and helped make her one of the highest paid supermodels in the world. I really admire her for being so honest about this, but I’ve gotta say, this quote makes me incredibly sad.  Keep reading »

Kate Moss Dishes On Johnny Depp, Heroin

Good Crazy Color vs. Bad Crazy Color

Kate Moss really opens up in a new Vanity Fair interview, discussing all those years of “heroin chic” talk and anorexia rumors, her relationship with Johnny Depp, and more. Highlights:

  • On heroin chic: “I had never even taken heroin—it was nothing to do with me at all. I think Corinne [Day]—she wasn’t on heroin but always loved that Lou Reed song, that whole glamorizing the squat, white-and-black and sparse and thin, and girls with dark eyes. She loved that look.” Read more…

It’s Official: That “Squishy Brick” Kate Upton Landed Her First Full “Vogue” Editorial

Kate Upton has weathered her fair share of critics in her brief career thus far, including an incident early this year in which Victoria’s Secret runway caster Sophia Neophitou cruelly said of the then-teenager’s look, “She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.” (Ever more depressing is the fact that some people think she’s fat, even likening her to, yes, a “squishy brick.”) And yet all signs point to Upton having the last laugh in this ongoing crusade: she scored two high-fashion magazine covers in the past two months alone, including the first issue of Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book, but her biggest upmarket break yet will hit the newsstands this week when she stars in a full Vogue spread. • Finally, Tyra has heard my prayers that “America’s Next Top Model” should just be 42 straight minutes of Rob Evans shirtless! Or something like that: THE next season of “America’s Next Top Model” will have male models competing right alongside the female ones. They are all going to be living in the house together, but, God-willing, a hot tub will not be involved. [Queerty]

The verdict is still out on whether Kate Upton will be able to transition smoothly from lad mag favorite to glossy cover star, but I think it’s safe to say that the odds are in her favor: she had a small (fully clothed!) feature in Vogue back in June, and Olivier Zahm (though not exactly the arbiter of good taste) tapped her for this month’s Jalouse. Most promising of all, Carine Roitfeld has so much faith in the sexy Sports Illustrated girl that she even placed her front and center on the first issue of her new magazine. Keep reading »

This Is What Liv Tyler Has To Look Forward To In 25 Years

Ugh, doesn’t Bebe Buell look just awful for 59? Her “rock ‘n’ roll love child” Liv Tyler must be so embarrassed to take her mom out in public. (I’m being sarcastic, obviously.) So yeah, confirmed: models don’t age. See one more after the jump! [Photo Credit: Jonathan Grassi for PMC] Keep reading »

As far as genes go, Georgia May Jagger’s got it made. Being the daughter of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall may have its upsides, but unlike most offspring of rock royalty, the 20-year-old is hardly resting on her laurels. With major magazine campaigns, beauty contracts, and Vogue covers to her name, Georgia’s unique look — unsurprisingly, a composite of her mother’s statuesque beauty and her father’s rock and roll rakishness — has already left an impression on the fashion world (and those unmistakable lips might have a little something to do with it, too).

Georgia’s genetic mix of ladylike English rose and gritty libertine has landed her a coveted spot as the face of Vivienne Westwood, and I daresay she showed up some of the catwalkers during her appearance at this weekend’s show, where she played the part of the queen who had been out all night and then some. We may not be able to recreate that gorgeous embroidered gown or the pretty baroque tiara, but her easy, flattering makeup is practically begging to be copied (in less than five minutes, no less) … Keep reading »

Groups that work to eradicate domestic violence and help survivors are protesting magazine behemoth Conde Nast over the lastest cover of Vogue Hommes International, on which the cover model is being choked. Supermodel Stephanie Seymour is held from behind by hunky Marlon Teixeira, whose face is rapturous as one hand reaches around to choke her neck and the other reaches around to grab her breast.
