Ex-boyfriend going extra cray? Roommate riding your nerves like a pony? Boss man keeping you down? Ward off the haters with evil eyes! For my gurl Dana here, I added an acid wash denim design and nail art bullion studs so she would look like a force to be reckoned with. Just talk to the hand, and it says, “Bitch, please!”

If you ask me, the best part about summer is all the seasonal ice cream shops that pop up. Even though I’m an adult (barely), I still can’t stop my cone from melting all over my hands. So, it seemed natural to recreate that drippy deliciousness on my fingers, this time with my collection of nail art stripers and Essie pastel polish. I’m especially digging the neon creamsicle color called “Action.”
Although Essie goes on smooth, I hit a few bumps, literally. My nails might look good enough to eat, but the oh-so trendy caviar should not be consumed. Little rolling balls do not belong on nails. I used them here to top my ice cream with sprinkles and I totally regret it. They’re cute for a couple days, but good luck getting them to survive a hot shower. We all scream for ice cream. Caviar, not so much.
This summer, I’m all about the studs. And not just the shirtless ones at the beach (although I would also like to get my hands on some of them too.) For my beauty expert buddies at Lifebooker, I bedazzled some series nail hardware. Check out editor Anna’s done up digits— hope she’s not going to try to get through an airport metal detector with these.
Here’s how you can have this hawt #GetNailedWithLB look! Paint your nails as per usual. Then bust out your nail art striper and draw lines across your nails where you want to stud.
To apply the studs you will need an orange stick, a base coat, a nail art sealer or bonder top coat and some studs you can find at a beauty supply store. First, coat your nail with your nail art sealer or bonder topcoat. Then, tap the tip of your orange stick into the basecoat brush to pick up a bit of polish. Next, tap your stick onto the stud to lift it up and place it down on the nail. Coat your nail again with the nail art sealer or bonder and boom! Your nails are more metal than Ozzy. Check out some more studded nail art styles above!
America, land of the free, home of the brave DIY nail artists like you, gurl. So, get out your metallic polishes because we’re gonna salute this nation. And what better way than with some sparkly firework fingers?
It’s the first day of summer. Time to hit the beach! I can’t make it out ‘til this weekend, but my nails are so already there. Here are my “Seaside In Aguadilla” nails, the design I reference in the new July Issue of Marie Claire (check me out on page 162!). Except, this sand came straight from the shore The Ramones made famous: Rock, Rock, Rockaway Beach!
And now I’ll let you in on a secret: I got my sand to stick with a nail art must have—Color Club’s Nail Art Sealer. That stuff is a magical bonding topcoat for 3D effects! You should be able to find it at Sally Beauty Supply.
