Miss Piggy And Kermit To Show Their Fluff On “America’s Got Talent”

AP

You know what there’s not nearly enough of on television these days? Muppets. Which is why I’m giddy that Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog will be performing tonight on “America’s Got Talent.” I don’t know exactly what they’ll be doing, besides celebrating the 40th anniversary of “Sesame Street,” but I’m hoping that Kermit will sing “It’s Not Easy Being Green” while Miss Piggy synchronize swims in the background like she did in “The Great Muppet Caper.” Also appearing with them—crotchety old critics Statler and Waldorf. Let’s hope they take over for judges Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne.

There is one other performer tonight who I’m not as enthused about—former “Talent” judge David Hasselhoff. Wait, maybe he and Kermit will be vying for Miss Piggy’s love? That’d be cool. [People]

Miss Piggy Talks About Being A Fashion Pigcon

miss piggy

Just because Miss Piggy hasn’t been in the spotlight recently doesn’t mean she’s any less of a fashion icon. And naturally, Miss P would want you to know that. In a rare interview, she recently discussed fashion, trends and her favorite designers. Wearing a Marc Jacobs dress, she told TwinCities.com that she enjoys collaborating with designers, and understands the process: “As an artiste myself, I understand the designer’s need to let their creative spirit run free. So, I do not want to interfere with their designs until the actual fitting — at which point I tell them exactly what I want and when I want it.” She actually has a pretty good interview strategy, careful to not play favorites to any one designer (for fear of getting free stuff cut off ... we would feel the same way), and giving the interviewer crap about body issues (“If by ‘body challenge’ you are suggesting that moi’s body has imperfections, then I suggest you retract the question.”)

As for what to wear for fall, we’ll be following Miss Piggy’s advice wholeheartedly: (1) Set trends, don’t follow them; (2) Is it expensive? (3) Did you pay for it? (4) Is it clean? [TwinCities.com]

Anna Hathaway Proves Why “Romeo & Juliet” Isn’t The Sexiest Shakespeare Play

anne hathaway

This summer, Anna Hathaway takes the stage in New York City as Viola in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. You might have thought that if the Hollywood A-lister was to play a Shakespeare role, it would be one that relies on her beauty, like a Juliet. Yet, Hathaway proves that feminine charm can have nothing to do with being sexy—her character, when washed ashore in a shipwreck, disguises herself as a page named Cesario with whom another woman, Olivia, falls in love. Anne told New York magazine that she was stoked on cross-dressing: “I was feeling like I could do more to get into my character,” she explains. “So I decided, What if I walked around New York trying to pass for a boy? What if I had to make people look twice to figure out what I was?” [NY Mag]

Here at The Frisky, we’re all about the boy style lately, so we’re intrigued by the appeal of the gender-bending world Anne will inhabit this season. After the jump, some of our favorite cross-dressing characters and moments in history!

Mash-Up: Miss Piggy Learns The Teaches Of Peaches

Let me just start this post off by saying that you should probably listen to the above video with your headphones on if you’re at home or in the company of small, impressionable children, especially ones that enjoy The Muppet Show. Behold, one of the greatest video dubs ever—Miss Piggy and the rest of her crew rocking out to the splendid Peaches’ tune “F*ck The Pain Away”. Kermit has never felt such a mighty lust coming his way.
