I’m always skeptical of a woman who says doesn’t have girlfriends. It’s a real red flag for me – that leaves me wondering, “What’s wrong with this picture?” Is she untrustworthy? A boyfriend stealer? A narcissist? Sure – it’s fun and healthy to have guy friends (less drama for sure) – but it’s downright shady not to be able to get along with other ladies. According to a recent interview with Metro, Megan Fox thinks girls can’t be friends with one another because we all have daddy issues. When asked about the “frenemies” phenomenon she said, “Yes, girls are awful. But, in their defense, girls are awful because of the way society is set up – we’re constantly in competition for male attention. Our fathers raise us wrong and we spend the rest of our lives searching for boys to pay attention to us, which validates us. So no girl can really be your friend, because if she takes attention from you, your daddy doesn’t love you.” Watchu talkin’ ‘bout Megan? That’s some messed up stuff. I think she just proved my theory. Something’s not quite right there … but we already kind of knew that. After the jump, some other celebs that are girl haters. Gotta makes you wonder … [Celebitchy] Keep reading »

I’m bummed. First, “The O.C.” killed off Mischa Barton in season three (naturally, season four was the show’s last), and now Mischa’s latest attempt at television glory, the CW’s ill-fated “Beautiful Life,” has become the textbook example of early cancellation. And thus, Mischa says she is done with television. “I think I need to back away from the whole TV approach,” she said. “That whole world of network television, probably isn’t, for me, a good idea now. I need to start reading for more serious roles.” But, Mischa, that’s only strike two! Give it one more shot. [Pop Eater]
It feels like we’ve heard this before, from other actresses who were tired of the stress of weekly production and seasonal uncertainty. Let’s see if leaving behind the small screen worked for them. Keep reading »
- “The Beautiful Life: TBL” is the 2009-2010 TV season’s first casualty. [LA Times] — Poor Mischa.
- Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy tie the knot in France. [Life & Style] — See, Hollywood, it is possible to get married quietly!
- Lucy Vodden, childhood friend of Julian Lennon and the influence for “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds,” has died at 46 after a battle with lupus. [Entertainment Weekly] — “Look for the girl with the sun in her eyes, and she’s gone.” Rest in peace.
- Mischa Barton is furious with tabloid writers for convincing people she’s crazy. [Starpulse] — You can’t get much crazier than blaming a meltdown and a mental facility stay on wisdom teeth removal surgery. I’m just sayin’.
- Suri Cruise is only three years old, but she seems to already be experimenting with makeup. While in Boston with her parents Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, Suri sported a smear of what looked like pink lipstick across her mouth yesterday. [Daily Mail] — It could have also been a smear of lollipop or Popsicle juice.
- Friends of Jessica Simpson fear she may be at her lowest point ever after she lost her dog to a coyote. [People] — Well, she is about due for a Hollywood meltdown.
I don’t think I could ask for much more out of the trailer for “Assassination of a High School President.” It’s got a high school scandal involving the SATs and a hot nerdy newspaper writer. Oh, and Mischa Barton acting like Marisa Cooper from “The O.C.” Though the film got a good response at Sundance, it went straight to DVD. Still, I have a feeling it shouldn’t be missed. It also stars Bruce Willis and, hey, the sole commenter on its IMDB page describes it as, “completely awesome.” Keep reading »
Tabloids are kind of like elaborate ventures into fan-fiction. Basically, they watch celebrities and then pick and choose where the stories would go if they had their way. Hey, wouldn’t it be cool if these characters fell in love and had to fight for each other? Oh, this celeb is sick—let’s make it heroin! This week, Mischa Barton‘s on drugs, Kate Gosselin and Jon’s new chickadee are clawing each other’s eyes out, Patrick Swayze had a heart attack (that one might be true), and Kristen Stewart is gonna sex it up to win back Robert Pattinson. Mischa Barton is one hot mess. After spending the last few months club-hopping in London and L.A. and living a post-breakup life from indie rock star Luke Pritchard of The Kooks, it seems that all the partying has finally caught up with the 23-year-old actress. On Wednesday, she called police about a yet-to-be-identified health problem and was taken to the hospital. She has still not been released from Ceders-Sinai Medical Center. Which is pretty darn inconvenient because Mischa was expected to be in New York City last night to attend the premiere of her latest movie, “Homecoming.” Sadly, she was unable to make it.

Actually that’s mean and untrue. She’s launching a hideous handbag line called RI2K & NICA’s, which counts as working. [London, U.K., 4/21/09] Keep reading »
Remember when Mischa Barton thought she was too good for “The O.C.” and left the show in order to pursue a movie career? Well, Mischa Barton movie star never materialized. In fact, the only noteworthy thing Mischa has achieved is her D.U.I. arrest in 2007. Okay, I’ll be fair and mention her fugly headband collection for Stacey Lapidus. Oh, and she hosted Blackbook‘s Hollywood party last night. Now, Mischa is returning to her TV roots by taking on the role of Sonja on “A Beautiful Life,” an upcoming CW drama about male and female models living together in New York City. Sonja is a veteran supermodel struggling to stay on top in the high fashion world, so she and Mischa have a lot in common. But Mischa isn’t the only “O.C.” alum who is struggling after leaving the show. Keep reading »
Mischa Barton’s long-awaited (ha) headband collaboration with hairwear designer Stacey Lapidus just came out, and it does not disappoint if you are into expensive, bejeweled headgear. The headbands are priced between $90 and $200, and Barton even commented on the various designs with her styling suggestions. For the Vinatge [sic] Jeweled Headband With Silk Ties, she says, “I’ve taken my favorite vintage tiara and put a spin on it. Let it become your own!” Oh, Marisa, we, like, totally will.
