I came across this photo of Miranda Lambert in an ad for her new album, Platinum, and I had one of those moments where I was like, “GIVE ME YOUR OUTFIT NOW.” Her carved rose corset belt is especially stunning, isn’t it? A perfect blend of sexy and country and vintage pin-up. After drooling over this photo for a good 5 minutes, I was inspired to round up some similar rose belts on Etsy. Some are vintage, some are new, some are subtle, and some are seriously rockstar worthy, but you could throw any of them on with a plaid summer dress and boots and channel Miranda’s vibes. “People always try to pop off or call her bluff at bars. One of them, I don’t want to say the guy’s name, but he’s the lead singer of a very popular rock band. His initials are C.K.”
–Blake Shelton revealed in this week’s issue of Rolling Stone that his wife (and the mag’s cover girl!) Miranda Lambert once got in a bar fight with a certain rock star. Upon reading this and seeing the “C.K.” initials, my mind immediately went to Nickelback singer/Avril Lavigne soulmate Chad Kroeger, but I assumed that was just because I’m always thinking about Chad Kroeger. Plus, the thought of Miranda throwing down with Chad Kroeger at a bar seemed to good to be true. Right? Right? Turns out it’s totally true. Apparently the brawl went down at Miranda’s 27th birthday party, when drunk Chad was trying really hard to get the birthday girl to do a shot with him. When Miranda said no, Chad went into full-on douche mode and told her she didn’t need to be “a bitch” about it. Miranda, being Miranda, threw her drink in his face. New favorite celebrity anecdote? Check. One more reason to love Miranda? Double check. [EOnline]
Miranda Lambert just announced a release date for her fifth studio album, Platinum, and even though we have to wait til June 3rd (that’s soooo far away!), I couldn’t be more excited. Miranda is one of my favorite country artists — a strong, sassy lady in a sea of autotuned frat boys — and the two years that have passed since her last album, Four The Record, have been long, long years. Here are 5 reasons I’m going to make a paper chain to count down the days until Miranda’s new album comes out, because I’m that stoked about it: Keep reading »
“Though I NEVER care what the tabloids have to say about me… I wanted to address this certain story they are running this week and set the record straight. I DID NOT have surgery to lose weight. That is ridiculous. I lost my weight the healthy and good old fashioned way. Watching what I eat and working out with my trainer Bill Crutchfield. As for the assumed number of pounds lost…? I don’t even know! Like I have always said, it’s not about a scale, it’s about how you feel and how your jeans fit. And on November 10th when I turned 30, my skinny jeans were finally baggy! Mission accomplished! So for anyone who is tempted to read the “Trash Talk” please don’t. I am proud to be a normal size girl and I want to encourage everyone to be confident at any size.”
–Miranda Lambert served up some weight loss real talk on her Facebook page yesterday in response to tabloid rumors that she got gastric bypass surgery (!) to slim down. This right here is why Miranda will always be one of my favorite country stars: she’s honest and sassy and down-to-earth. Also, if you’re not following her Facebook page, I highly recommend it. In between anti-tabloid screeds like this, she posts dorky jokes and pictures of stray dogs she rescues in Oklahoma. Love. Her. [Facebook]
The Country Music Awards were held last night, and shocker! Taylor Swift didn’t win anything. For the first time in a gazillion years, audiences missed out on Swift’s patented “OMG I CAN’T BELIEVE I WON!” surprise face. Big winners included married country superstars Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert, who must not have any mantle space left after their five combined wins last night.
But what you’re really wondering is: What did the winners (and losers) wear?
The self-shot venison dinner, the cowboy boots for the bridesmaids, the wearing of her mom’s wedding dress, the fishing honeymoon—yes, we have been thoroughly obsessed with Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton’s sweet downhome wedding. But now a new detail has reeled me in even further. Apparently, Miranda and Blake were adamant about their dogs—chihuahua Cher, chihuahua-pug Delta, and terrier Delilah—being a big part of their nuptials. The three pups walked down the aisle with one of Miranda’s boot-clad bridesmaids. The doggies even got their own rhinestoned bandanas and collars for the occasion. “They were rock stars! Total rock stars, ” says Miranda’s publicist/wedding planner. “They were tiny little representatives, but they got a lot of laughs and attention. They were right in the big middle of everything … [Miranda] wanted a place where everybody would be comfortable, would have a great time, just feel at home and her dogs could be a part of it.”
This has me wondering—would you have your pets be a big part of your wedding? Keep reading »
Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton got married last weekend, and I am still thoroughly obsessed with their wedding. Not only did Miranda shoot her own venison for the reception dinner and do her final shopping at WalMart, but apparently, she also wore her mom’s wedding dress. So sweet. And rather than take a tropical honeymoon, this down-home couple decided to have a little staycation at their house in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. According to Miranda’s Twitter, they fished a lot. “Honeymoon bliss!!!” is the way she captioned this photo. “Mrs Shelton here! Winning!!!!!” So adorable. [PopEater] Keep reading »
Country stars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, who you can currently see on “The Voice,” are getting hitched this weekend. And their tweets about their wedding preparations are kind of refreshing. “I am so excited,” Miranda wrote on Wednesday. “Got nails touched up. One last wal mart (sic) run and I should be good!” Then yesterday, she posted the above photo of a package of deer cutlets. “Last thing loaded for the wedding!!! Harvested by …. me!!!!!” she said.
Blake was apparently very proud. Keep reading »
“I told CBS, my advice for you is a three-second delay because you never know what’s going to come out of his mouth, and you might not want that on live TV. He’s so quick and so great at ad-libbing—probably too good.”
—Miranda Lambert gives a word of warning about her fiance, Blake Shelton, who co-hosted last night’s Academy of Country Music Awards along with Reba McEntire. Miranda ended up taking home the award for Best Female Vocalist. The other big winners of the night were Brad Paisley (Best Male Voclist), Lady Antebellum (Top Vocal Group, Album of the Year) and, duh, Taylor Swift (Entertainer of the Year). But Steven Tyler, Rihanna, Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon also made appearances, making the whole night seem just a touch less country than normal. [People, MTV] Keep reading »
