  • Check out a first look at Mindy Kaling’s new show, “The Mindy Project,” coming to Fox this fall on Tuesday nights.  Mindy plays a smart, funny OB-GYN who sometimes makes an ass of herself while drunk and prays before dates … hmm, just like me.  I am so going to watch the shit out of this show. Sitcoms for everyone! Mindy Kaling is the latest lady we love to get her own show: a source tells NYmag.com that Fox will be ordering a pilot written and starring the fabulous Miss K. The “Office” star will play an OB/GYN as ”young Bridget Jones type … trying to navigate both her personal and professional lives.” Obstretics and gynecology are actually something our girl Mindy knows about in real life, seeing as her mama is a gyno in Boston. I’m suspending judgment for now: I love Mindy Kaling as much as the next 20something liberal arts degree-holding urban female, but it remains to be seen where stirrups and Pap smears are funzies on TV.  [NYMag.comGuardian UK]

Leave it to Mindy Kaling to make meeting former President Bill Clinton on “The Today Show” sound adorable. And also leave it to Mindy Kaling to suggest she thought she could be Bill’s type because she’s “a little chunky.” That’s one way to look at it. [Team Coco]

It might seem like all we read around here is Tumblrs about Ryan Gosling. That’s only the partial truth: most of us are pretty huge bookworms. The Frisky staff is constantly lending our most loved books, swapping recommendations, and just in general being big-ass nerds. We’re not the kinds of blog that keeps you up-to-date on all the best new books that were published in 2011. But we can keep you in the loop about the best books we loved to pieces in 2011 and we think you will love them, too.

Drumroll, please ….
