When Michelle Williams first appeared on the scene, she played second fiddle to Katie Holmes in teen drama “Dawson’s Creek.” While Holmes went off to marry Tom Cruise and “design” a “clothing line,” Williams has become a successful, award-winning actress. Recently seen in “Blue Valentine,” “Synecdoche, New York” and “Shutter Island,” Williams will next take on the role of Marilyn Monroe in “My Week With Marilyn.” The young actress is recognizable on the red carpet for her platinum blonde pixie cut, designer duds and neutral tones.

The New York Film Festival announced that the new Marilyn Monroe biopic “My Week With Marilyn,” which follows a production assistant’s week on set with the icon right after tying the knot with Arthur Miller, will get top billing at the festival this year. The festival’s head of programming changed the schedule, moving the film to the opening slot after seeing Michelle Williams‘ performance. “After seeing Marilyn Monroe so often portrayed in films as a caricature, it is a pleasure to see this complex personality and unique on-screen presence portrayed so well by such a talented actress as Michelle Williams,” he said. The coveted centerpiece slot is often a predictor of a future Oscar nomination. I wouldn’t be surprised if the lovely and talented Michelle were headed that way. She looks completely transformed in these first look photos. I can’t wait to see her take on the icon. Even though we’ve seen so many do it before her. [ONTD]

“I have a house. I have a car. My daughter goes to school. I can buy my friends birthday presents. I can go out to dinner from time to time. I read to my daughter from this book called Just Enough and Not Too Much. It means something.”
—Michelle Williams explains to the Arizona Republic why she’s gone for intense roles in indie movies rather than flashy, big blockbuster roles that would bring in lots of cash. Sure, her “just enough” is probably much more than the average person’s but, man, does she seem to have good perspective on life. [Huffington Post] Keep reading »
If I could take a trip anywhere in the world, I’d choose … Oz. As in the place over the rainbow, not the prison. So I am very excited about Disney’s upcoming “Oz: The Great And Powerful,” a prequel to everyone’s favorite tale about a girl following the yellow brick road. The cast so far is stellar. The very busy James Franco will play the guy behind the curtain. Mila Kunis will play Theodora, who goes on to become the Wicked Witch of the West. Rachel Weisz will be Evanora, the already evil Wicked Witch of the East.
And now, the movie finally has its Glinda, after much debate. Keep reading »
Pixie blonde Michelle Williams is a bonafide beauty and one of the best examples of gamine chic out there right now. We spied her in this month’s Interview magazine and had to score her sexy grownup babydoll look. (Courtney Love fans die hard, what can we say?) After the jump, check out our uber-affordable interpretation! Keep reading »
“Meek’s Cutoff” stars Michelle Williams as a hardbitten pioneer woman trying to make her way across the prairie with a band of pioneers, and the clothing worn in the film reflects the settlers’ hardscrabble lives. We’ve taken Michelle and “Meek’s Cutoff” as inspiration for our summer wardrobe and picked six perfect prairie dresses. (And we won’t tell if you skip the bonnet.) Check ‘em out after the jump!
