We’ve long been a fan of quirky, sort of out-there American designer Thom Browne, so it’s pretty great to see him get pop culture recognition — on the presidential inauguration stage, no less. The outrageous sportswear designer has been a fan of putting models dressed as lobsters on the runway in the past, but is versatile enough to design clothes that the FLOTUS loves, too. Darn those Obama ladies for dressing warmly on an ice cold day and making it look easy. The First Family pulled out all the stops for the Inauguration this morning, with the First Lady wearing a Thom Browne coat and dress, a Reed Krakoff cardigan, J.Crew belt and shoes, and a Cathy Waterman necklace. Style Inspiration: Michelle Obama’s Hearts And Stripes
This weekend, the Barack Obama Facebook page posted this picture of the first couple attending a Veteran’s Day ceremony. My friend Molly immediately sent me the link along with the message, “What is Michelle wearing?! I want it!” I did some sleuthing (and by “sleuthing” I mean I went to the awesome website “Mrs. O,” which tirelessly chronicles all of Michelle’s fashion choices, and typed in “striped sweater”) and found out the photo is actually from last year, and the divine Miss O’s sweater is a Sonia Rykiel creation that’s no longer available.
