Michelle Williams Still Imagines Ending Up With Heath Ledger Someday

Michelle's Acceptance

“I said it would make me too sad to answer but it’s also … one of my favorite things to imagine. It’s actually one of my favorite places to visit.”

Michelle Williams‘ response to the question, “Do you think there was a part of you that imagined the two of you [Michelle and Heath Ledger] would somehow end up together?” in an interview with GQ. The profile of the “My Week With Marilyn” actress is extremely raw and beautifully written, filled with plenty of tears. Of her whirlwind romance with late actor on the set of “Brokeback Mountain,” Williams says, “It’s a bit like: We had a lot of things to do, because we didn’t have a lot of time, or something.” Of those things to do? Having daughter Matilda, now six, who Williams thanked sweetly and profusely in her Golden Globes’ acceptance speech, saying Matilda’s “bravery and exuberance is the example that I take with me in my work and in my life.”  Keep reading »

Starring Michelle Williams, Eddie Redmayne, Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench and Emma Watson

You might think “My Week With Marilyn” would be a lighthearted film about one of the most famous women in the modern history of the world. After all, it’s about a romance between Monroe and a set gopher while she filmed “The Prince and the Showgirl,” a comedy. But I walked out of the theater with just the opposite — a heavy heart. (And the steadfast belief that Michelle Williams, who plays Marilyn Monroe, should be nominated for an Oscar.) Keep reading »

“I’ve really grown into it — I feel like myself with short hair. … Of course, the only people who like it are gay men and my girlfriends. Straight men across the board are not into this hair! … [But] I cut it for the one straight man who has ever liked short hair and I wear it in memorial of somebody who really loved it.”

Michelle Williams tells British Elle that while her daughter (and men) would prefer her with long hair, she has no plans to grow out her pixie crop, which she wears in tribute to her ex, the late Heath Ledger.  I think this is beautiful and now I’m kind of teary. Sigh. [Telegraph UK] Keep reading »

The trailer for “My Week With Marilyn” has finally arrived! Michelle Williams stars as Marilyn Monroe and the film focuses on the actress’s first trip to Europe to film a movie with Sir Lawrence Olivier, during which she had a brief affair with a production assistant named Colin Clark. Clark wrote about their interlude in a tell-all book on which the film is based. By the looks of the trailer, it sure seems like Williams — who, admittedly, I think is divine – has seriously channeled the bombshell’s mix of vivaciousness and depression. Will it get her a third Oscar nod? It’s too soon to tell — the film opens at the New York Film Festival and is in theaters on November 4. Will you be seeing it?

Michelle Williams Has All The Company She Needs On Her Bedside Table

“Relationships have always seemed mysterious, and therefore worth exploring. I’m single, so it’s still kind of a mystery—a worthwhile mystery, one that I want to be on the scent of. … I’m not lonely, and I think that has a lot to do with what’s on my bedside table rather than what’s in my bed.”

– Michelle Williams talks to Vogue about dating, particularly in the aftermath of Heath Ledger’s death, and being content with being alone. I love this quote, particularly her allusion to books keeping her company. I can so relate to that. Stories can oftentimes be the best company. [E! Online] Keep reading »

Michelle Williams As Marilyn Monroe On The Cover Of Vogue

Michelle Williams plays Marilyn Monroe in the upcoming flick, “My Week With Marilyn,” and so Vogue naturally had her pose in character for their October issue. “I’d go to bed every night with a stack of books next to me,” she says, explaining how she prepared for the role. “I’d fall asleep to movies of her. It was like when you were a kid and you’d put a book under your pillow hoping you’d get it by osmosis.” Wow, I have to say that Michelle does look so much like Marilyn between the hair, the lips, the body, and the stance. However, does anyone else find that the overwhelming resemblance in those areas makes her normally gorgeous eyes and nose feel disconcertingly off? [Vogue]
