Paris Jackson was “confused” about why she had to wear a mask in public when she was younger, she tells Oprah on “Oprah’s Next Chapter,” via the BBC. “I understand it now, why my dad would want our face to be covered,” she said. “Like when we went out without him, we wouldn’t be recognized, so we could have a normal childhood.” Read more…
Remember Lindsay Lohan’s plans to debut her Playboy issue on Ellen? Well, there will be no such interview. Following her very eventful Hawaiian vacation, Lindsay failed to hop her early flight back to L.A. yesterday for the taping. So much for that.
The consolation prize, for those that were hyped to hear what Lindsay had to say? Paris Jackson, daughter of Michael, appeared on Ellen in Lohan’s place. The episode, which airs on Thursday, will mark the 13-year-old’s first ever solo interview. Judging by the video preview, which you can watch on Radar Online, Paris seems surprisingly normal and well-adjusted despite her upbringing and the controversy surrounding her father. I, for one, am glad Lindsay bailed — this interview with Paris is bound to be more interesting, and what could Lindsay possibly have to say that we haven’t heard from her before? Trainwrecks are tedious when they only play one note.
I’ll be honest, last night’s episode of “America’s Next Top Model” was entirely WTF so this recap is going to be short, because, you guys, Tyra made the models channel different eras of Michael Jackson. Some of the models had to wear blackface! (Early MJ, obvs.) And some had to wear heavy makeup that mimicked his jacked-up plastic surgery. I am not even joking! Alexandria has a butt chin painted on! And then, and then, LaToya Jackson judged! (SPOILER ALERT: In the spirit of Michael Jackson’s sweet nature — yawn — no one went home.)
Naturally, I prefer it when “Top Model” embraces its WTF-ness so this was my favorite episode/challenge possibly ever. Click through these photos to check out how each of the models personified MJ — needless to say, the guy who performs as Michael out in front of Grauman’s Chinese Theater need not fear for his job.
X-tina got down and dirrty at the Michael Jackson tribute concert this weekend. Here she is in action squatting out a high note in “Dirty Diana.” Now that’s commitment to the craft. [Buzzfeed]
Every so often a news item comes along that defies all reason and exceeds all expectations of news greatness. Today, I found one such story. The headline reads: “Whitney Houston Once Got Intimate With Michael Jackson’s Pet Monkey Bubbles.” What does that mean exactly? It means that David Gest (that weird looking fellow who was married to Liza Minnelli) made some interesting claims during his interview for the upcoming Michael Jackson documentary. “Whitney was having dinner with Michael at his Neverland home when she accidentally dropped her knife under the table. While Michael was retrieving it for her, Whitney felt her toes being sucked. She moaned, ‘Michael, is that you? Don’t stop. That’s so sensual.’ Yet Michael’s head popped up and her toes were still being sucked. It turned out it was Bubbles,” he recalled. And there you have it. Questions, comments, concerns? Above, the breakdown of what makes this news item truly amazing. [ONTD] Keep reading »
“What I’ve learned from [Beyoncé] is similar to what I learned from Michael Jackson—and I know that’s blasphemy to compare the two because Mike was such an innovator, but I think she’s like the second coming. Y’know, the hard work and dedication that she puts into her shows. It just makes you want to work harder at your own craft. She’s like a machine.”
—Jay-Z talks about his new joint album with Kanye West, Watch The Throne, and in the process explains the many ways Beyoncé has inspired him. Sure, it’s strange to draw a mental connection between your wife and Michael Jackson, but I hear what he’s saying. [ONTD] Keep reading »
I have never had a desire to smell like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, or Mariah Carey—so I know I am not the target market for celebrity perfumes. Celebrity colognes make even less sense to me—I just can’t imagine wanting to smell like George Clooney, Tim McGraw, or Antonio Banderas. Apparently, I don’t know what I am talking about because these things sell like hotcakes. Still, there is one new scent in the works that I don’t think will get such a nice reception on the market: a Michael Jackson scent.
Yes, apparently Joe Jackson has signed on with a French perfumery to make both a male and female Michael Jackson fragrance. Keep reading »
