Gerard Butler Does A Not-So-Flattering Michael Jackson Impression

Splash News

What exactly is Gerard Butler doing in this photo? He’s recreating that insane moment in 2002 when Michael Jackson dangled baby Blanket—with an, uh, blanket over his head—out of a window while the paparazzi snapped pics. Instead of a baby, Gerard has opted for a potted plant and towel. What do you think—is he hilarious for reminding us of a bizarro incident that’s been forgotten in the wake of Michael Jackson’s death? Or is this just tacky?

Pomplamoose’s “Beat It” Bests The Original?

Pomplamoose, who covered Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” are back with an indie rock version of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.” Dare I suggest that it could be better, maybe, than the original?

Quickies: Deleted “Bruno” Scene Is Uncomfortable & Psychic To Contact Michael Jackson

  • The above clip is an “exclusive” deleted scene from the “Bruno” DVD. Things get really uncomfortable when baseball legend Pete Rose is forced to sit on a landscaper. [Maxim]—I’m so ashamed to admit I laughed. I had no plans of seeing any of this movie in my lifetime.
  • It’s no surprise movies don’t necessarily contain the most accurate depictions of actual life, but when it comes to sex, some of the depictions are plain myths. [College Candy]—Yeah, I’ve never ripped the sheet off the bed to run to the loo post-coitus.

Forbes’ List Of The Top-Earning DEAD Celebs Freaks Us Out

Yves Saint Laurent

So much for resting in peace. Forbes magazine even wants dead celebs to work hard for their money. They just released a list titled “Top Earning Dead Celebrities.” Of course, the primo place is not filled by anyone predictable. Apparently, the most valuable “deleb” is designer Yves Saint Laurent. Earlier this year, an auction of this dude’s belongings raked in about $443 million in three days. The duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein hold down spot number two for creating musicals like “South Pacific,” “Oklahoma,” and “The Sound of Music.” Michael Jackson is number three and Elvis Presley, who usually secures the top spot, is at #4. But the list gets weirder ...

Should You Go See “This Is It”?

Michael Jackson's

Back in July, when we heard that Sony Pictures had plunked down $60 million smackers for 120 hours of footage from Michael Jackson‘s rehearsals for the “This Is It” tour that never was, we wondered if they were geniuses or crazy people. Yes, with MJ love flying high, it seemed like huge numbers of people would pay $10 to $12 for a peek inside the final rehearsals. But then again, 120 hours is not actually a lot of material when it comes to making a feature film—and they paid half a mill per hour. Well, “This Is It” finally opened yesterday, with simultaneous premieres in 16 cities across the globe. Directed by Kenny Ortega, who created the tour with Jackson, it is part concert movie and part documentary. The flick is now showing in 18,000 theaters, but it will only be playing for two weeks. So, should you walk to the theater, run to the theater, or stay at home and ignore the movie’s existence? That really depends on whom you ask.

What Celebs Wore To MJ’s “This Is It” Premiere

This Is It Premiere

There was a bittersweet joke being made at the “This Is It” premiere in L.A. last night: “Everyone is here except for Michael Jackson.” The red carpet did look pretty crammed (mostly with really young B- and C-listers, which was sort of strange—did their publicists, like, see this as a prime opportunity to see and be seen? Tacky). Anyhoo, if we’re all being gauche here, click through to gawk at what famous people of all tiers wore to such an event. (Hint: Lots of black.)

J.Lo wisely avoided showing too much skin and accessorized with some bling and seriously kick ass boots.

Quote Of The Day: Michael Jackson’s Sibling Says Movie Is Riveting

Michael Jackson's Sibling Says Movie is Riveting

“My brother’s movie ‘This Is It’ is truly riveting. Michael is electrifying! We get a glimpse of a true genius at work. His passionate message for healing the world, saving the planet and our children’s futures is something he was always striving for in his lifetime.”

— Jackie Jackson, one of Michael’s older brothers, gushes about “This Is It,” the movie about Michael’s final days, which opens late tomorrow night. Many of the Jackson clan, including matriarch Katherine, have no plans to see the movie any time soon, saying they need a little more distance before watching it. What about you? Will you watch “This Is It”? [via TMZ]

Would Michael Jackson Tell A&E’s Reality Show To Beat It?

Michael Jackson's Children To Appear In Reality Show

Michael Jackson did his best to shield his three children, Prince, Paris, and Blanket, from prying eyes and the media, even when dangling an infant Blanket over a balcony railing. When he was alive they often wore scarves or masks in public. So, I wonder how he would feel about his children appearing in an upcoming A&E reality show, the latest Jackson family sideshow act.

(Another) Quote Of The Day: Janet Jackson Breaks Her Silence On Michael’s Death

Janet Jackson In Harper's Bazaar

“People can have rhinoceros skin, but there’s a point when something’s going to hurt you. Not everyone is stone. I haven’t watched the news in weeks. I had to ask my chef, ‘How’s Obama doing?’ I haven’t read a newspaper…Now at least I know that I can step up to the plate and not crumble when I’m needed. When it comes to something like this that is so, so serious, so painful, so traumatic, I can handle it.”

Christian Audigier Purchased Neverland Ranch?

Michael Jackson

Oh lordy, how’s this for crazy back-from-Labor-Day-weekend news? There’s a scary rumor circulating that our fashion nemesis, Christian Audigier of Ed Hardy fame, has purchased Michael Jackson‘s Neverland Ranch. Um, yeah.

According to an interview with Agence France-Presse, Audigier said, “I bought the Michael Jackson house. It’s something I’m gonna open just for the birthday (sic) of his death every June, where the media is gonna be able to come in and we’ll do exposes, etc.”

Of course entertainment bloggers are having a field day with this, but we’re more concerned with the sartorial side of things. It’s not as if Neverland is known for being a tasteful setting per se, but plop some Ed Hardy crap in there and it’s officially the tackiest place on earth. We just hope this rumor is false. Michael Jackson’s New Roommates

Michael Jackson Buried

After more than two months, Michael Jackson was finally buried last night in a press-free ceremony attended by his family and friends, like Elizabeth Taylor, Macauley Culkin, and Reverend Al Sharpton. He was buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California, which has basically become the cemetery for famous folk. The cemetery doesn’t do gravestones, and they keep extremely “mums the word” about whom is buried where. Jackson’s grave site is in the Great Mausoleum, which, in addition to housing a huge stained glass replica of Leonardo da Vinci’s “Last Supper,” is also where Jean Harlow, Spencer Tracy and Clark Gable are all buried. Jackson’s grave won’t even slightly be open to the public. “It’s impossible to get in there,” an insider says. [Washington Post]

Macaulay Culkin Might Be The Biological Father Of Michael Jackson’s Youngest Son

Macaulay Culkin the father of Michael Jackson's youngest son?

Get ready to smack your face and scream, “Home Alone”-style. The word on the street is that Macaulay Culkin might be the biological father of Michael Jackson‘s youngest son, Blanket, also known as Prince Michael II. Michael and Macaulay became besties in 1990 when Macaulay was 10 years old, and the two got some grief for sharing a bed when Macaulay stayed at Neverland Ranch. Macaulay had to be a witness in Michael’s 2005 child molestation trial, and the two stayed friends after. At some point, at least as the rumor mill would have you believe, Michael asked Macaulay to donate sperm.

King Of Pop News Drop: Official Says Michael’s Death Was A Homicide

Michael Jackson's Death A Homicide?

Ever since Michael Jackson died, there’s been a steady stream of folks who have said that he was murdered, most of them bearing the last name Jackson. LaToya was quick to tell News of the World newspaper, “Michael was murdered. It was a conspiracy to get his money. We don’t think just one person was involved.” And a week before that, the King of Pop’s lawyer divulged to Life & Style, “He feared somebody wanted to kill him. He was even concerned people would kill him to somehow try to take control of the Beatles back catalog.”

It sounded far fetched. But it now looks like they could be right.
