Not that we blame them. “Breaking Bad” has totally transformed Albuquerque from that random city that’s spelled weird to the meth capital of the world. What else were the great capitalists of New Mexico supposed to do besides squeeze every last penny from their infamous, regionalized crystal? In honor of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman’s “Blue Sky” meth (99.1 percent pure, thankyouverymuch), the good businessmen of the Southwestern city have been selling donuts, bath salts, and candy all in the name of the fictional, highly addictive, and massively illegal drug.

We were totally shocked when we saw former “America’s Next Top Model” contest Jael Strauss — who’d appeared on Cycle 8 of the series — would be appearing on a “Dr. Phil” episode devoted to her drug abuse. Since appearing on the series six years ago, Jael’s life has taken a severely downward slide. She’s been addicted to meth, and her family begs her to get help during a harrowing Dr. Phil intervention. Jael hardly looks like the beautiful girl she was just six short years ago — with pockmarked skin and bleached blond locks, she appears much older and worn out than most other 28-year-olds.
We wish her the best and hope that Thursday’s episode of “Dr. Phil” gets her the help she needs. Jael is hardly the only reality TV star to slide into addiction — let’s review…
This guy! This guy! Okay, so he doesn’t look much like Bryan Cranston, but I don’t know — when you’re a meth dealer named Walter White, maybe it’s just about living out your destiny. White was busted for meth manufacturing in Alabama because of course. No word on if he’s got a wife named Skylar and a business partner named Pinkman. [Buzzfeed]
Boston University professor Irina Kristy is a regular Walter White! The mathematics prof and her son Grigory Genkin (the Jesse Pinkman to her Walt) are facing charges for cooking and distributing methamphetamine. Genkin was charged with distribution of methamphetamine, conspiracy to violate drug law, and drug violation near a school zone. How very “Breaking Bad” of them! As one adorable BU student posited, “It could have been possible that Professor Kristy had no knowledge of the fact that there was a meth lab in her house.”
“Her son could have convinced her that it was some crazy lab experiment, but chances are she knew full well,” sophomore Urbashee Paul continued. “Although I do not support her involvement in the issue, I hope that it does not affect her chances to teach at BU.” [Daily Free Press]
