Your Period Is Annoying

We happen to think this commercial from Chile for Kitadol menstrual relief pills is hilarious. We are not a fan of getting our period, an experience that leaves us feeling bloated, irritated, and ready to smash all comers. Which is why this ad is so great: it shows it like we feel it. The only thing missing for this Viking stand-in who symbolizes how chicks suffer on their periods is one of those studded metal balls chained to the end of a stick that we’d like to use on someone when we’re cramping 10 ways ’til Tuesday. The Menstruation Machine Lets Men Experience The Joys Of Menstruating

We know from personal experience that it’s hard for a man to imagine what it’s like to get a period. It must all seem so foreign. Why do we go off the rails? What’s up with tampons? How exactly is that happening? Even if they’ve got the facts straight, it’s not as if they’ll know what it feels like. Thankfully, Royal College of Art graduate student Hiromi Ozaki has created the Menstruation Machine, a wearable mechanism that enables men to simulate menstruating. “Fitted with a blood dispensing mechanism and lower-abdomen-stimulating electrodes, the Menstruation Machine simulates the pain and bleeding of an average five day menstruation process of a human.” Fun! In the video, a boy dressed up like a girl dons the Menstruation Machine for maximum effect. It looks a little bulky, but you know what? Getting your period is never easy.
