Seriously, what is going on? Just a week after two 12-year-old girls attempted to murder a classmate as an appeal to the fictional internet character Slender Man, a woman from Hamilton, Ohio, claims that she was recently attacked with a knife by her 13-year-old daughter — and that the child was obsessed with Slender Man as well. According to Raw Story:
“I came home one night from work and she was in the kitchen waiting for me and she was wearing a mask — a white mask,” the woman said. “She had her hood up and had her hands covered with her sleeves and the mask.”
“She was someone else during that attack,” the mother added.

This story is so full of WTF, I almost don’t know where to begin. Two 12-year-old girls — their names have been published elsewhere, but as they are minors, I am choosing not to — are accused of stabbing another 12-year-old girl 19 times and then leaving her for dead in a Wisconsin woods. CNN said the victim had to literally “crawl to her own rescue” and was found on the side of a road by two passerbys on bikes, who called the police. The little girl immediately told the police who was responsible for the attack, and the two accused girls were taken into custody. According to police, the two had been planning the attack on their friend/classmate for months, with the intention of killing her, in the hopes of impressing someone called “The Slender Man.”

If brides were to toss kittens into the crowd for all the single ladiez, I would actually make an effort to grab it. Bouquets, on the other hand, are best handled with a subtle side-step away from whatever direction they’re going in. No cats were harmed in the making of this meme, but it does serve as additional evidence in the case for Photoshopping a cat into every picture ever. So much better! [Brides Throwing Cats]
I’ve always been someone who wasn’t scared to share pics of myself online or to post a profile picture. In fact, I always enjoyed sharing pictures of myself with friends or in the Facebook pages I helped run for different groups I am involved with at my university.
That was until I received an awkward, random message on OkCupid as I was going to sleep a couple of nights ago:
“…I am messaging because I saw meme with your photo earlier tonight. … I hate to be the one to let you know that. Hopefully they get flagged and its [sic] taken down.”
At first, I wasn’t sure if I believed him. See, when you are openly fat and feminist on a dating site, it isn’t uncommon for randoms to harass you. For whatever reason I felt like he was sincere, so I messaged him back and tried to figure out what page he saw it on. I looked on anti-feminist subreddits, I checked the Facebook page he thought it was on, and I couldn’t find anything. I chalked it up to exactly what I thought it was, another OkCupid douche canoe messing with me. Keep reading »
Internet geeks have entertained themselves by planking, Tebowing, owling and Vadering, but a new meme is horning in on the action — literally.
It’s called “unicorning,” and it basically requires people to wear rubber unicorn masks in inappropriate settings, which is essentially everywhere.
The meme has been around since last Fall when its originator, Laura DeMerchant, a Los Angeles-based film producer started collecting unicorn masks and handing them out to friends for pictures. Read more on Huffington Post…
I don’t usually get too into babies/animals/baby animals, but fuck it, I’m a human being. I like babies in wigs, owls with mops and things with fluffy faces sometimes. I’m adding babies in mugs to the list of approved cute things. The “baby mugging” meme was started by Mommy Shorts as a way to help people heal after the Boston Bombings. I don’t know about you, but these pictures are healing me. You can mug your baby too (that sounds wrong) and post it with the #babymugging tag.[The Daily Dot]
Ruslan Tsarni, the uncle of Boston Marathon bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, gained nationwide attention for his heartbreakingly gruff and shout-y declaration to reporters that the brothers were “losers” who brought shame upon his family and the Chechen people. And now, Uncle Ruslan, as he’s affectionately known on the interwebs, is a meme. Well played. Check out a few more after the jump… [Quick Meme] Keep reading »
You would think we’ve perhaps come to the end of cat meme possibilities, but no, every time you think the Internet’s run out of cat ideas, someone goes and creates something like “Sports Balls Replaced With Cats,” a Tumblr which is dedicated to just that — taking pictures of athletes and Photoshopping kittens into their arms. Beefy athletic dudes cradling kittens? Yes, please. [Sports Balls Replaced By Cats]
The subreddit “Pretty Girls Making Ugly Faces” has produced internet gold. Otherwise lovely lookin’ ladies making the most hideous faces they can somehow manages to be among the more hilarious things I’ve seen all week. So funny, I had to join in.
