Ready for The Meat Dress: Redux? Skeevy photographer Terry Richardson just posted this photo of Lady Gaga on stage in Japan, donning a new version of her infamous meat dress. Luckily for the costume department, this one looks to be made of leather instead of raw beef, and I must say I’m digging the trendy tulip shaped skirt. As far as meat dresses go, this updated style is definitely an improvement. [MTV Style]

Lady Gaga’s Meat Dress Saved For Posterity By Dedicated Taxidermist

I know it’s a question that has kept you up at night for months—whatever happened to Lady Gaga‘s meat dress? Apparently, it did not end up as maggot food. After Gaga wore the dress at the 2010 VMAs, her handlers stuck it in the freezer, though parts were already decomposing a tad. From there, the dress went to a California taxidermist by the name of Sergio Vigalato. It took him almost four months, but he was finally able to preserve the dress in a form that doesn’t need refrigeration. And the garment is now on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. The moral of this story is: it’s better to eat your meat than wear it. And this is coming from a vegetarian. Darn. I was hoping for a bite. Fernandez says it will be the last meat dress of its kind. Well, there you have it. Carry on, carnivores! [People] Keep reading »

What Does Lady Gaga’s Meat Dress Mean?

Leave it to the Brits to get philosophical about Gaga’s dress, while we Americans are busy being freaked out by it. BBC News asked a group of experts to weigh in on what message Gaga was delivering by draping herself in cheap steak rather than couture. The so-called experts, who came up with five possible interpretations, think the dress symbolizes the following: 1.) an “anti-fashion statement”; 2.) a “feminist statement”; 3.) a “commentary on aging and decay”; 4.) a comment on our “hypocritical attitude toward meat”; or 5.) no statement at all — the joke’s on us for thinking otherwise. Does This Meat Dress Make You Hungry?

Jia Jam has a party to go to, so for the occasion, she decided to make a dress out of salami and bacon. Based on the “Aqua Teen Hunger Force” character Meatwad (her party was ATHF-themed), Jia says she went with the pork products because “salami [is] thin, keeps in one piece, and is quite cheap, and bacon because it looks very, um, meaty.” She then vacuum-sealed it and kept it refrigerated until it was party time. In her words, “Good times.” [Jia Jam via Boing Boing] Keep reading »
