Maury Povich definitely sticks to a formula on his talk show. Without out-of-control teens and tweens and baby daddy/mama drama, he really wouldn’t have anything to talk about. Most sane people would never go on this show to air their dirty laundry and be humiliated. But there are some, like the woman who had 17 men take paternity tests that all turned out to be negative, who will take their 15 minutes anyway they can get it—even at the expense of what’s left of their reputations. These may be the type of people who would purchase these shirts. Wouldn’t it be fun for dad, mom, and baby to go out together wearing these tees: “I AM the daddy,” “You ARE the father,” and “I met my daddy on Maury”! That way everyone they meet will know they can’t manage their lives or conduct themselves like respectable adults. At least folks would take pity on the baby because she couldn’t pick her parents. Anyone who has ever picked up a Playgirl has probably learned their lesson the hard way (no pun intended).  The mag is famous for publishing naked pictures they get sent by amateurs in the “Real Men” section. While porn superstar Ron Jeremy got his start as one of these snapshots, you’re more likely to see some scary shaved grandpa-parts and silly sex costumes.  We always make a point to flip past that page, but daytime talk show host Maury Povich wasn’t afraid to go there. Take a look at these clips from his infamous Playgirl episode special, which features more muscle than a race car, a mother who sent Playgirl pictures of her son, a jealous host, a mullet, and an appreciative granny. Jamie Hope had been accepting child support from Kenneth Samuels since 1997, despite suspicions that another ex-lover, Oba Wallace, was her kid’s father.  As the kid grew up, a strong resemblance to Mr. Wallace emerged and eventually, it became obvious enough that Samuels petitioned the court for a paternity test to establish custody. Although Mr. Samuels had sent child support for the past 11 years because he felt he had no reason to doubt he was the baby daddy, the test proved once and for all that he wasn’t in fact the father. The court ruled that Mr. Wallace and Ms. Hope should repay Samuels for all his payments over the past decade, which totaled $14,460.  Whoa, having kids in Georgia is cheaper than a fuel efficient Prius!  This whole debacle made us think of Maury Povich and his awesome “You Are Not The Father!”-episodes.
