"Can I party with you?"

In Elaine Carroll’s hilariously warped world, Mary Kate Olsen is obsessed with her bodyguard. In real life, she’s obsessed with former French prez Nicholas Sarkozy’s brother Olivier, which is actually tons weirder. Here, Mary Kate tells her bodyguard that she can’t fantasize about him anymore, though she’ll give it one more ecstasy-tinged try. [College Humor]

There once lived two sisters, born of the same magical egg, an egg which once belonged to the most powerful sorcerer in the kingdom. That sorcerer made a deal with the devil, and lost — and damned his magical egg daughters to a life of eternal opposition. Where one would have two names the other would go by just a singular moniker. Where one would date only sly young douchebags, the other would canoodle with the brothers of French presidents. And though they might come together over their shared love of pizza, the sisters Ashley and Mary-Kate were destined to always be torn asunder: One would represent the night, the other the light of day. Or something!

Mary-Kate Olsen Is Dating Nicolas Sarkozy’s Half-Brother

Mary-Kate Olsen’s latest companion just so happens to be the half-brother of recently unemployed French president Nicolas Sarkozy. Olivier Sarkozy, 42, is managing director of the Carlyle Group and has been dating 25-year-old Olsen about one month, the New York Post reports. The couple is “head over heels,” apparently, and spent Memorial Day weekend together in the Hamptons. Read more …

  • Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen beat out the Fanning sisters, Beyoncé and Solange, and even Kate and Pippa Middleton on Vogue’s 2011 “Best Dressed Sisters” list. If I don’t have anything nice to say, I won’t say anything at all. Maybe I just don’t “get” high fashion. [Vogue.com]

Halloween Inspiration

So this is what the Olsen twins — Mary-Kate and Ashley — apparently think constitutes a Halloween costume. The pair dressed up — with venti latte cups-as-light-sabers in tow — as part of a new Halloween-ie video for their T-shirt company Stylemint. Even with the helmets on, the sisters manage to convey a languid boredom and over-it-ness that we’ve come to expect from them. Remember, you can never be too rich, too thin, or too Vader-y. Quality Time With Mary-Kate And Ashley Olsen

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen launched their new T-shirt line (like they ever wear Ts) Stylemint a few months ago, and this month, have brought celebrity stylist Sara Moonves in on the act to share her style advice with Stylemint fans. The creepiest part of the video? When Mary-Kate admits that she loves Sara because she “really gets our personality.” As in, one personality. [Stylemint] Keep reading »

The Olsen Twins Share A Brain

“Some of our memories are shared. We don’t know what actually happened to whom. One of us was stung by a bee, but we can’t remember who, because we both felt it.”

Mary-Kate Olsen on her trippy twin connection to Ashley in Vogue. When their shared brain reads Simone de Beauvoir, does only one of them have to read for the other to absorb it? My money’s on Ashley. She’s the smart one, right? I still always get them confused. [Celebitchy] Keep reading »

What’s Your Earliest Fashion Memory?

Reason #327 why I love Mary-Kate Olsen: She, too, isn’t bashful about her past fashion choices, and is perhaps the queen of bad kid style. In a quote caught by Elle magazine, she says, “My first favorite clothing item was a pair of spandex shorts with fringe on them! Leopard and white spandex.” Wow. Honestly, those sound kind of amazing. See, my 4-year-old self would have been all over them. [Twitter]

Like any self-respecting 5-year-old girl, I took it upon myself to curate my fashion sense early on. Since my parents were the bohemian “let her be creative and wear whatever” types, I somehow came to acquire a shamelessly distinctive wardrobe (purchased, I assume, with Monopoly money). It started with all things gold. Keep reading »

The Fashion Peacekeepers: The Olsen Twins

Sometimes we feel like Us Weekly‘s “The Fashion Police” and other similar style critics can be a tad harsh. Also, they tend to have these really boring, conservative styles and we have to wonder what their real fashion credentials are. (Case in point: US Weekly‘s “Top Cops” include random comedian Stefanie Novik and Chet Cannon of “The Real World, Brooklyn.” When did they ever go to design school!?) The Fashion Peacekeepers are here to say, hey, can’t everyone’s styles just get along?

Oh you Fashion Police! You’re so … predictable. Of course they hate the way Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen look at this Opening Ceremony party in Japan and added them to their lineup, but we beg to differ. First off, let’s think of the context here: like it or not, Opening Ceremony is a hipper-than-thou avant-garde kind of boutique that’s all about experimental fashion. (If you don’t believe me watch this highly entertaining video starring Chloe Sevigny.) Second, this is Tokyo, where lots of young folk pop similar “fun” headgear on their heads the minute they step out of the office in the evening. Believe me, they just earned, like, 10 million cool points from their Japanese fan base. Thirdly, they just look downright cute. In summation, we’re pretty sure their inspiration was our recent post on how wearing animal ears is the hottest new thing. We called that shiz over a month ago. [E!] Keep reading »
