Vanity Fair releases its Hollywood issue annually, but this year’s cover is unique in that it is the first of its kind to be shot by famed photog Mario Testino. His technique translates beautifully to the cover, though it’s not immediately apparent that it’s his work. The 11 young actresses featured are dressed impeccably, draped in silky pastels and exuding a sensuous, past-century boudoir air. Ever concerning, though, is the fact that hardly any of the starlets are recognizable. How young is too young for nude shots? Some are up in arms over a recent photo of 19-year-old model Karlie Kloss that appeared in Allure magazine. Allure, you say? Yes, shockingly the beauty mag has raised the ire of fashion critics for employing the still-technically-a-teenager-Kloss in a Allure’s “Best of Beauty” shoots–one of which is a soapy beauty photo where her breasts are barely covered by bubbles.

As if we weren’t inundated with enough Kate Moss images on a daily basis, London’s Phillips de Pury Auction House and the Saatchi Gallery will be playing host to 18 life-sized, Mario Testino-shot Moss images come July 5. The photos, all shot by Testino in 1996, have been blown up enormously and will sell for as-yet-unreleased prices once the two exhibitions are over.
