Mariah Carey dislocated her shoulder over the July 4th weekend, but the singer refused to let the injury sideline her from performing at Major League Baseball’s All-Star Charity Concert this weekend. In fact, she turned it into an opportunity to try a new accessory — a sling — in three over-the-top fashionable ways. Would we expect anything less from Mariah? I think not. [Photos: Getty]
Let’s go on a little journey together, with Mariah Carey and Miguel as our spirit guides. Click and let the glory that is “#Beautiful” wash over you. Now picture this — you’re walking down the street on one of those sparkly summer days when it’s warm enough for bare legs but not so hot that you’re peeling your body off the sidewalk. What’s that up ahead? Your face, on a billboard, lightly tanned, possibly freckled, definitely sun-kissed, rising above the buildings and glinting in the sun. You’re happy, glowing, a paragon of modern health and summer beauty … and then you wake up, reverie ended, song over. You’re at work, back at your desk, a half-finished Excel doc and a salad you still need to eat wilting in the corner.
It’s time to make this dream a reality. If you, lovely reader, think you could be the new face of Hawaiian Tropic, check out their Facebook page and and submit a photo and details of why YOU are the perfect gal for the job. You could win a visit to an undisclosed but fabulous tropical location and be the new face of Hawaiian Tropic so get on it right now!
If the Easter Bunny never made it to you house yesterday, that’s because he was trapped underneath Mariah Carey in her backyard while she sat on him, drinking some champs. “Happy Easter dahhlings…I finally caught the Easter bunny,” she tweeted. We’d expect nothing less from you, Mimi. [Twitter]

So in honor of Mimi’s big day, I present to you 21 of those bits of wisdom, accompanied by GIFs of Mariah at her most divalicious. Keep reading »
“How can you hate Beyoncé? She’s changing the world. She stands for people of colour and women everywhere succeeding in a stifling patriarchy without compromising her morals. And she makes challenging, interesting art. She’s always positive. She is everything good. And the fact that she is hugely successful is not a shitty thing. It’s an important and amazing thing and she clearly works hard for it.
And yet I know very few adult males who consider themselves serious ‘music guys’ who don’t laugh when I say I like Mariah Carey. Why? Because she’s beautiful and people like her. Therefore she must be selling sex, right? So obviously her music is terrible, right? Ugh. The first time I heard Mariah Carey it shattered the fabric of my existence and I started Grimes.”
– Awesome electro-pop musician Grimes, expressing her solidarity with and appreciation for other female artists. I love this sentiment, because people who travel in hipster and indie music circles often write off artists that have had mainstream success. [Pitchfork]
Not familiar with Grimes? Check out her video for “Oblivion” after the jump. It involves dudes in a locker room. You’ll love it.

The New York Post got its hands on the new memoir by music honcho Tommy Mottola and the paper’s most depressing article today is a long piece detailing all the ways Mottola outlined his abuse of ex-wife and ex-employee, Mariah Carey. Mottola first came into contact with then-18-year-old singer through a mix tape. He might have fallen in love with — and set his sights on making money from — her voice, but he very quickly turned their relationship into a sexually exploitative, controlling and emotionally abusive one.
