Marc Jacobs Thinks Celebrities Are “Boring”

Marc Jacobs and business partner Robert Duffy are banning celebrities from their shows at Fashion Week. For many of us, watching the who’s who of the front row is almost as exhilarating as seeing the latest fall collection, but according to Duffy celebrities are just “boring.” Granted, the team claimed that celebrities were verboten last year, even though we saw a spike-faced Lady Gaga and Madonna chillin’ by the runway. Apparently the Gaga was given special exemption from the “boring celebrity” rule because (besides the fact that she is ANYTHING but boring) the diva was headlining the after party. As for Madge … she just showed up uninvited. [NYmag.com] Keep reading »

No Car Is Complete Without A $57 Marc Jacobs Air Freshener!

Marc Jacobs wants you to get laid in your car! Wait, scratch that … he wants you to get lei-ed in your car. Slight difference. Oh, well. Anyway, Marc is hawking a flowery perfume-scented lei for fashionable drivers to hang from their rear view mirrors — and it can be yours for a whopping $57! (True, the air freshening lei comes with a bottle of Marc Jacobs Daisy In The Air eau de toilette spray, which is the real cost behind the $57.) As much as we think Marc’s scents are lovely, we will stick with those $3 air fresheners you can get at Pep Boys, thank you. [Fashion Indie] Keep reading »

Mark Your Calendars: Marc Jacobs Will Live Stream His Runway Show!

Every season, the Marc Jacobs show is one not to be missed. But the creative designer has his finicky ways of presenting his clothes. One year the show began drastically late, the next only a few short minutes after its official start time, and then the number of invitations was cut–so even celebrities were left without access. But now Marc has decided to open his show to the entire world, and is embracing the trend of live streaming over the internet. Which means that come Feb. 15 at 8 pm, the entire world can watch as Marc sends his models down the runway in his latest collection. With one more designer moving toward the online showcase, hopefully we’ll see fashion continue to embrace the internet and bring the runway to the masses. Let’s just hope that he won’t use a Gaga song like Alexander McQueen, ruining the live stream for everyone. [Bryan Boy] Keep reading »

Marc Jacobs Is Registered At JCPenney?

Yesterday, the fashion world went into a tizzy when blogs reported that Marc Jacobs and his fiancé, Lorenzo Martone, got hitched in St. Barts during the holiday weekend. With a guest list that included BFF Rachel Zoe and a party hosted by Larry Gagosian, complete with a cake topped by a mini version of the couple, it would be the perfect secret wedding. But as soon as the rumors began, they were dashed by a representative for Marc. In the short span of time that congratulations hit Twitter and Facebook, one trickster decided to have a bit of fun with the news and set up a fake registry for the designer at the extremely fashionable store of JCPenney. In case you’re interested in buying a gift for the happy (as of yet unmarried) couple, you can pick from a variety of specially picked items, including an Oreck® Tower Air Purifier, Portable Massage Table, and a Lexington Swivel Mirror for the bathroom. Just remember that Cintra Wilson made it well-known that J.C.Penney is anything but the ideal shopping location for a true fashion insider. Eye-roll. [WWD] Keep reading »

Marc Jacobs Weds His Longtime Boyfriend In St. Barts

Who the hell weds in suspenders? Marc Jacobs‘ new husband does! After a year-long engagement, Jacobs and his longtime boyfriend, Lorenzo Martone, tied the knot last week in a private ceremony in St. Barts. (Aha, this must be why they were snapping saucy photos there!) Besides a groom in suspenders, the schmancy fete included a flower-strewn pool, guests like Russell Simmons, and the cutest mini-me cake toppers we’ve ever seen. The “Marc” cake topper is even wearing the designer’s signature kilt! Congratulations to the happy couple—and stay tuned for copycat-suspender grooms to come. [Guest Of A Guest] Keep reading »
