I literally squealed with glee when I saw this chalkboard manicure, and I was even more excited when I learned it wasn’t some exclusive runway design, but actually a nail art kit available at Sephora. You start with a matte black polish that’s like chalkboard paint for your nails (see also: Pinterest’s wet dream), then once that dries, add some colorful designs with one of the colorful chalk pens, and seal it with a clear top coat. Love. [$25, Sephora]

The pink undertones make it flattering on any skin tone and help it stand out from other gold polishes that are everywhere this season. Perfect. [$7.50, Amazon]

It’s Chanukah Party time! And this year, I’m getting a copy of the new Laika Magazineout 12/12/12. I’m so excited to have this design in its first issue, especially because all of the products in Laika’s pages are Cruelty Free. Bonus!

The polishes I used here are from one of my favorite local NYC shops: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. Their 100 percent vegan products are truly amazing. I’m a big fan of their lip tars and lacquers. To make this look festive, I used polish colors: Spanglemaker, Rx and Inky. But really any color combo with high contrast will work well.

After the jump, get the DIY to steal this look straight out of the pages of Laika Magazine!

Here in New York City, we take our brunch seriously. My girls and I like to get together and do it up! My best dish is grits … my only dish is grits. But that as a nail design would probably look more like the back of my thighs than delicious creamy polenta. So, I went for the classics— a donut, bacon, eggs, and a fork to shovel it all in your pie hole. Keep reading »
