Random, unimportant, little-known factoid about me: on my list of not-that-good movies I can always watch is “Because I Said So,” starring Mandy Moore and Diane Keaton. It’s a rom-com about a mom who meddles in her single daughter’s love life. I’ve had this inexplicable crush on Mandy Moore for years, perhaps because I admire the topsy turvy sincerity of her music career (I mean, she released an album of retro covers after achieving pop stardom) and think she has pretty hair and I like the fact that she seemingly doesn’t really care about being famous. Also, she’s really stylish, but in a normal way, like there’s always something sligggghtly awkward about her, even though she has a general ease to her approach. Anyway, I really love this outfit. It’s one I would think to put together myself but my favorite street style stars are the people who make me look at my closet in a new way, and see combinations that didn’t occur to me before. Perhaps this outfit will do the same for you, or maybe you’ll be inclined to purchase the look-a-like pieces above, in which case, get the deets after the jump! Keep reading »

As a child of the ’90s, I have an intrinsic emotional association with Mandy Moore. I vividly recall listening to her completely inane songs on my Walkman waiting for my mom to pick me up from karate (not an isolated incident, she was always late to pick me up from karate). Mandy has done a lot of growing up since she was last in the spotlight, and since I was last at karate, and I guess she’s kind of awesome now? It’s evident that her “Cry” days are long gone: she appeared in a couple of rom-coms, got married to Ryan Adams (who I, as a longtime Jeff Tweedy fan, do not enjoy, but whatever), voiced Rapunzel in “Tangled,” and is now working on a brand-new album that will (presumably) be a drastic departure from the vaguely nauseating tracks of yore.
I’m willing to give Mandy another chance, especially since she’s been looking all kinds of stylish at New York Fashion Week! If that doesn’t say comeback, then I don’t know what does. I’m “Crush”-ing hard on this look in particular: it’s a subtle segue into the dark, dramatic beauty trends on the forecast, but it’s still sweet and pretty enough to wear through the interim. If you’re ready to jump the gun on fall beauty, but aren’t quite prepared to delve into dark aubergine shades, cop Mandy’s look right now! Keep reading »
I have such a girl crush on Mandy Moore. I really liked her album of cover songs; I will watch that movie “Because I Said So” over and over; and I think she’s got such cute accessible style. It may be hot as balls on the East Coast right now, but it other parts of the country — like San Francisco, for example — the temps are a lot breezier, in which case, this outfit of Mandy’s would be totally perfect for lunch with friends or out running errands. Check out how to get it after the jump! Keep reading »

Hello. Here’s a side of Mandy Moore we haven’t seen: raunchy sex comedy star. She stars in the upcoming comedy, “Swinging With The Finkels,” as a wife who suggests she and her husband, played by Martin Freeman (or Dr. Watson on “Sherlock,” for all you BBC nerds), “see another couple” as a way to spice up their marriage. This looks pretty funny. Especially the part where she bonks Jerry Stiller in the crotch with a vibrator. It’s already debuted in England, apparently, so ask your friend who lives in London how it is. [YouTube] Keep reading »
Alt-country rocker Ryan Adams and reformed teen star Mandy Moore are one of my favorite celebrity couples. Mostly because they stay under the radar and only emerge to say sweet things about each other. I was excited a few months ago when I heard that they had performed a few songs together. Now it appears that they have recorded one of them, “Empty Room,” which is available on 7-inch records they’re selling on tour. Take a listen after the jump. Keep reading »

Who knew Mandy Moore could actually be funny? (We lost hope forever after “Because I Said So.”) [Uh, speak for yourself. I love that movie. -- Editor] But here’s Mandy in a hilarious and vag-tastic Funny Or Die video hawking Red Bull Energy Douche: the world’s first energy drink-slash-feminine hygiene product! Hmm, maybe if we had an energy douche around the Frisky offices, we’d turn in our copy more quickly… Keep reading »
