Ask The Man Panel: Yogurt Dress

I’m a huge fan of the swirly fabric flower. I would estimate that 65 percent of the things I own are adorned with some kind of floral fabric poof. From ballet flats to belts to headbands to blouses, I love it all. Naturally, then, I’m pretty obsessed with this elaborately ruffled Marchesa mini-dress. Since it’s a more dramatic example of the floral poof trend, I thought it would be the perfect example to show our Man Panel. Check out their hilariously candid reactions after the jump …

Check out these “broken heart” shorts from Urban Outfitters. They retail for $180 and feature black heart-shaped pockets on the front and back, which could easily be mistaken for either angel wings or crab claws, depending on your mood. Read on to see our Man Panel’s candid reactions to this unique look …

Sequins and feathers are both huge trends right now. Combining the two makes quite a dramatic fashion statement, as this $485 J.Crew skirt proves. What does the Man Panel think of this striking piece? Read on for their candid opinions …

Ask The Man Panel: On The Fringe

This week, in response to a reader request to have the Man Panel review “something that normal people would actually wear,” I decided to get their thoughts on this fringed shawl cardigan from Forever 21. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the current blanket sweater trend, because it’s the next best thing to cutting two arm holes into your down comforter and wearing it to work (something I’ve considered on more than a few chilly mornings). But let’s see what the men had to say …

Ask The Man Panel: Draft Horse Pants

Bellbottoms are big again. Like, literally. Check out this super-sized pair by Ellery, for example, which cost a cool $900. I can’t think of too many places where one might be able to wear these. Maybe to a Celine Dion concert. If you were Celine Dion. Anyway, here’s what the guys on our Man Panel had to say about ‘em:

Ask The Man Panel: Sleeping Bag Chic

Comme des Garçons calls this a “blazer,” but it might be more aptly described as a “puff ball with a head hole,” or perhaps a “giant, wearable replica of a human brain.” If it didn’t cost $2,500, I might have to go pick one up for myself out of sheer curiosity. The next best thing? Asking our awesome Man Panel for their candid thoughts on this slightly confusing piece of couture… Keep reading »

Ask The Man Panel: Diana Ross In Shoe Form

When I saw these $2,000 Lanvin python and Mongolian fur pumps, a few things went through my mind. First and foremost: what kind of hair products would you need to buy to maintain these shoes’ lustrous locks?” A close second: I have to find out what the men think of these. Check out their candid opinions after the jump… Keep reading »

Ask The Man Panel: “Beetlejuice” Couture

This bright, stripey outfit is from the much-lauded Jil Sander spring 2011 ready-to-wear collection. With the combination of a billowy candy cane skirt and exposed side boob, I couldn’t wait to see what the Man Panel had to say about this one. Read their candid reactions after the jump! Ask The Man Panel: Dystopian Romper Edition

A couple weeks ago we debuted a new feature, “Ask The Man Panel,” wherein we solicit guys’ opinions on clothing and fashion trends. We kicked things off with a $6,000 Marie Antoinette-inspired shoe, and today we showed them this, um, unique outfit from Alexander Wang, which includes a $600 hooded romper and a model who seems to be suffering from severe depression.

Let’s see what the men had to say … Keep reading »

Ask The Man Panel: Christian Louboutin’s $6,000 Marie Antoinette Heels

I am endlessly entertained by the divides between men and women when it comes to fashion: the differing opinions on the definition of “expensive,” the controversy over red lipstick (is it glamorous or reminiscent of the Joker?), the thousands of times throughout history that women have asked, “Honey, what do you think of this dress?” only to be met with a vacant stare.

So we decided to start a new feature where we round up a few dudes and ask for their honest opinion on an outrageous clothing item, accessory, or fashion trend. Christian Louboutin’s limited-edition Marie Antoinette heels seemed like the perfect first candidate. These blindingly bright and ornately embroidered peep-toe pumps retail for $6,295. Only 36 pairs were made. I think they’re amazing. My best friend thinks they’re ridiculous. Here’s what the guys had to say … Keep reading »
