The First Family Wears Thom Browne, J.Crew & Kate Spade To The Inauguration
Darn those Obama ladies for dressing warmly on an ice cold day and making it look easy. The First Family pulled out all the stops for the Inauguration this morning, with the First Lady wearing a Thom Browne coat and dress, a Reed Krakoff cardigan, J.Crew belt and shoes, and a Cathy Waterman necklace. Malia, 14, is also wearing J.Crew and Sasha, 11, is wearing Kate Spade. Michelle’s mom Marian Robinson didn’t get any style credits, which is a shame, because she looks pretty toasty too! [BuzzFeed]
Obama’s Girls Looked Gorgeous Last Night
Barack Obama came out on top in last night’s history-making election, and we couldn’t be happier (or more sedated — it takes a lot of Valium to get through that vote count). Of course, our president is the first to say that he’d never have gotten where he is without his girls behind him, and they certainly dress the part of the picturesque first family.
The sisters chose similar silhouettes, with high-waisted circle skirts, easy flats, and tucked-in tops, but Malia’s bold colorblocking in contrast to Sasha’s sweet bow-front blouse (and that gorgeous watercolor green skirt) flaunted their individual sartorial preferences. They both managed to channel a cool, contemporary vibe while still looking like, well, the president’s children. Michelle wore a streamlined oxblood Michael Kors dress which, if you’re a steadfast follower of the first lady’s style, may look familiar — she wore it a few times back in 2010. Mrs. Obama knows full well that fashion isn’t single-use-only, and that’s exactly why we love her. (Among, like, a million other reasons, but that’s one of them.)
