Channing Tatum showed off his booty-poppin’ moves while Elton John performed at the 2012 Concert for the Rainforest Fund earlier this week. Tatum is, of course, a former stripper; the upcoming film, “Magic Mike,” in which he stars alongside a whole bunch of other hunky dudes, is partially based on his experience as an exotic dancer. Clearly Elton thinks he’s still got it.

“Magic Mike,” aka the movie where Channing Tatum will play a stripper (a job he has actually held in real life), is shaping up to have the hottest supporting cast ever. And we can only imagine that most of them will be taking off their clothes. Thursday, it was announced that Matthew McConaughey had signed on to play Dallas, a former dancer who runs the Xquisite Club where Magic Mike works. It also was revealed that Matt Bomer of “White Collar” had committed to playing a stripper in Magic Mike’s coterie. And yesterday we learned that Joe Manganiello is in final talks to play the role of Big Dick Richie in the movie. Which, great name?

By now, it is a widely known fact that before Channing Tatum made it in Hollywood, he was making it rain in an all-guy revue called “Male Encounter” at a strip club in Florida. And now Channing will be taking that real life experience and using it to inspire a role. Channing will star in “Magic Mike,” a story of a male stripper and his proteges. “This was a wild and pivotal time in my life,” Channing said in a statement. “And I couldn’t be more thrilled to go down the rabbit hole with Steven.”
