You know how the heart emoji was the most popular word of 2014? After viewing Madonna’s Twitter timeline, I’m convinced that she single-handedly made it so.
In an effort to promote her forthcoming album, Rebel Heart, Madonna has apparently hired a 15-year-old to handle her social media accounts, and that 15-year-old is splattering her timeline with heart and smiley-face emoji (but especially heart emoji). In addition, her publicity team has hashtagged her album title, which stands to reason, but they’re accompanying the hashtag with pictures of the most recognizable and well-received historical and cultural figures of the 20th century, photoshopped to look like the Rebel Heart album cover. It, um … it doesn’t come off so well.
Why not? Well, behold… Keep reading »
File this one under “ Extremely Mixed Feelings”: Olfactory artist Peter de Cupere has a one-day exhibit happening in which a Madonna figure made of holy water and “vaginal smell” will melt and fill the gallery with “the scent of passion.” :-/
The vaginal smell is authentic and sourced from a variety of women, but is hygienic – it was created by an olfactory lab, so no, say, hazardous elements remain in the sculpture. Gallery attendees will be invited to touch the liquid after the sculpture has melted but have been warned that it’s a pretty strong scent and will stick. Keep reading »
As our pals over at Idolator point out, Madonna’s 2015 calendar cover harkens back to a pivotal scene in the Material Girl’s racy documentary, “Truth Or Dare,” in which Madge demonstrates her oral sex skills on a bottle as her backup dancers look on. Rewatching the scene, I realize how much of my own blowjob expertise came (heh) straight from Madonna’s playbook. Anyway, I love this the cover of this calendar — and I’m very excited to find out what other images are inside. [Idolator]
OH MY GOD CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?! The Material Girl, Madge, Esther, MADONNA has haaaaaair in her armpits and she’s not ashamed! The most interesting thing to me about this photo is just how blonde Madonna’s pit hair is. If I grew mine out this long, I think it would be really pretty dark. Does that mean Madonna’s more of a natural blonde than I am? [Instagram]
Is it just us, or does it sometimes feels like the Internet is one giant argument between Gen Yers and Gen Xers? How all this Millennial finger wagging happened is beyond us (thanks, Kevin Bacon), but it would be great if for once, we could all just agree on some stuff, be nice, and share. To settle the score, we have Eve and Leonora Epstein, sisters born 14 years apart, who have written a book about all this pop culture confusion. It’s called X vs. Y: A Culture War, a Love Story, and it comes out next week. After the jump, Leo (Gen Y, and a former Frisky columnist!) and Eve (Gen X) share seven pop culture obsessions the two generations can agree on. Keep reading »
