Madonna Used Child Labor To Create New Fashion Line

We’ll have to wait until August to see Madonna‘s much-hyped new fashion brand, MG icon, but we had to wonder why the Material Girl chose to launch with a junior’s line at Macy’s instead of, say, a more sophisticated collection at Barneys. Turns out, it was all a matter of convenience: In a recent AP interview, Madonna claimed that daughter Lourdes was the brains behind the threads: “Really she does most of the work, honestly.” And she told “Access Hollywood” that Lourdes comes in to start working while she’ll “sit back and watch.” Well, alrighty then. Lourdes is only 13, but she does have a killer fashion sense, and designing clothes beats the chores we used to have to do. And we have to admire Madonna’s cajones on this one, as opposed to all these stars denying they ripped off their so-called designs lately. Instead of lying about it, just put it all out there. You’ll sleep better at night. [NBC New York] Keep reading »

Move Over Lindsay, Madonna Is The Next Celebrity Designer

The Material Girl is in talks to launch a new line of clothing, accessories, shoes, and intimates exclusively at Macy’s. This would be Madge’s first venture into the fashion world after that fugly unique line of track suits for H&M. The name of the in-talks line? “Truth or Dare,” as in the title of the 1991 “film” that documented the star’s Blond Ambition tour. Let’s just hope the T or D line will be better than the movie. The Queen Of Queens? Anna To Make Awkward Store Appearance

So, we are already cringing at thoughts of Vogue editor and fashion royal Anna Wintour addressing the masses at Macy’s in the New York borough of Queens, of all places. The collision of these two worlds is guaranteed to be the stuff good reality shows are made of. (Too bad they’re no longer filming the soon-to-be released documentary “The September Issue.”) Wintour will be joined by designer and “Project Runway” host Michael Kors on September 10 at the department store, where the duo will be on hand to showcase fall trends and sign t-shirts for the first 50 folks in line. The appearance kicks off the city-wide launch of Fashion’s Night Out, a multi-day “shopping” event meant to jump-start fall retail sales across the country. [Racked]

Question is, will Wintour pull a Cintra Wilson and write about how disturbingly “middle-class” Macy’s is in her next editor’s letter? Only time will tell. Keep reading »

Kristin Davis’ Clothing Line Is Very “Charlotte”

We were a little surprised when we heard that Kristin Davis had decided to get into the fashion business, putting her name on a line of clothes for department store chain Belk. What would her line look like? Would there be pearls? Now we know the answer: No pearls; however, there are plenty of ladylike styles, and lots of bows. While we think $108 is a little expensive for a polyester shift dress, the Kristin Davis Collection might satiate your appetite for celebrity-branded clothes, especially if you missed out on picking up the best pieces from Rachel Bilson’s Edie Rose for DKNY Jeans. If not, Eva Mendes’ line of bedding, Vida, is coming to Macy’s any time now. We’re gonna take a wild guess that her sex life is pretty enviable, and here’s to hoping that a set of her sheets will emit some of her sexual energy into our bedroom. Keep reading »
