Listen, I know, sometimes we just want to be cute. Cute is fine, but in my estimation, this dress goes over the cliff from cute to infantilizing. This “Kawaii Not?” dress from Modcloth puts a Hello Kitty face on your boobs, and just seems like an adult-man repeller. But what do you think?

Love It Or Leave It: Anne Hathaway’s Avant-Garde “Les Miserables” Premiere Look?

Les Mis Love Lessons
Love lessons from Les Miserables. Read More »

Anne Hathaway certainly isn’t the first celeb to shed her sartorial inhibitions with her long hair (see: the Miley Cyrus metamorphosis), but she has proven herself to be far and away one of the most daring. If last week’s love-it-or-loathe-it Givenchy gown wasn’t proof enough for you, this elaborate Tom Ford look should do the trick. Anne is working the Rooney Mara angle pretty hard here in this black high-necked column dress, but turn her ’round and there’s some kind of attached cape situation going on, too. Add the strappy thigh-high bondage shoes (boots, perhaps?) into the mix and you’ve got yourself a look for sure.

One of the key attributes to pulling off an ensemble this ambitious is looking like you know what you’re doing, also known as confidence, and Anne has that in spades… so I’m not hating the overall effect probably half as much as I should. I just think the lady is kind of working it. What say you?

Is Anne's daring look doing it for you?

Love It Or Leave It: Beyonce’s Floral Faux Romper

Beyonce On The Frisky!
All of The Frisky's post about Miss Beyonce Knowles. Read More »

Beyonce took a trip to an art show at Art Basel in Miami this weekend with her hair tied up in a chic top knot, wearing a sexy pair of beige Louboutins and a floral romper. But wait! Stop the presses! Turns out that’s not a floral romper after all, but a matchy-matchy short and shirt set by Emma Cook. I’m pretty sure Queen Bey is the only person in the world who could make a buttoned-up floral short suit look fierce, so I’m voting “love it” purely out of reverence for her fashion superpowers. Now it’s your turn! Tell us what you think below. [Photo: Splash News]

Of all the Kardashians (and there are like, 5,000), Kourtney seems to have the best style. But this Mara Hoffman muu muu? Well, the jury’s out. She tends to have good taste, but then again, she did have two kids with Human Tan Towel Scott Disick. So should we trust her muu muu judgement? Hmmm…

Beyonce is one tough act to follow, but it’s hardly a secret that Solange is the more style-savvy Knowles ― all those years spent concealed in the basement must have allowed Bey’s younger sis to amass quite the wardrobe. Solange’s eclectic fear-no-critic aesthetic means that, for all of her sartorial hits, she has her fair share of misses … not to mention misses that are hits just because she’s wearing them. The singer chose this slinky peach number for a fragrance launch last night, and though I wouldn’t call it a bad look because, well, Solange Knowles doesn’t do bad looks, I am weirdly bothered by the “hanging flap” effect created by the double slit. On a better note, girlfriend is sporting a bangin’ gold cage bracelet. Are you feeling this daring take on the trend, or do you prefer to keep the slit count at one?

I would like to (firmly but gently) scold whoever reintroduced jumpsuits to popular fashion, because 99.99999 percent of the time the results are not only obscenely bad, but also infused with genuinely obscene cameltoe situations. I can’t, however, bring myself to hate on Diane Kruger in this embroidered lace version of the trend by Jason Wu ― the cut is actually flattering, but I don’t know if that has more to do with the garment itself or who’s wearing it. The German actress has shown us that she can take essentially any questionable look (even jaunty little caps!) and make it look like the best thing ever, so it doesn’t surprise me that this difficult silhouette becomes incredibly chic on her, especially when worn with the perfect simple accessories. Are you loving Diane’s take on the jumpsuit (I’ll admit, I kind of am), or would you rather see her in one of her many girly Chanel frocks?

Are you down with Diane's jumpsuit look?

Lindsay Lohan is working some serious Priscilla Presley realness here, at the premiere for her new, and highly lambasted, Lifetime movie “Liz and Dick.” There’s a lot not to like here — the shiny champagne silk, the unflattering cut, the bizarre red crystal detailing. She might look drag queenish here, but we’re at least glad she’s returned to her red hair roots.

Mascara that stays put

My personal makeup mantra is all eyelashes, all the time, so when it comes to wild and crazy lash looks, I generally jump right on board. Still, I don’t know how I feel about this thick, separated effect on the lower lid. “Once Upon a Time” star Ginnifer Goodwin sported what appears to be a pretty serious set of bottom falsies at last night’s American Music Awards for an extreme look that leaves me lukewarm.

I avoid even putting mascara on my lower lashes because it makes my almond-shaped eyes seem way smaller, and I think it has the same effect on Ginnifer’s similar eye shape — it really closes the eye. The reason it looked so striking and gamine on sixties icons like Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton is because they had big, round eyes that they punctuated with such lashes, skirting the magical eye-shrinking illusion altogether. I don’t think it necessarily looks bad on Ginnifer, but it definitely overwhelms her petite features. Put it this way: it’s more “interesting?” than “pretty.” Am I just projecting my own small-eye insecurities, or do you agree that these severe lower lashes are too much of a good thing?

Chloe Moretz has the youth (she was born in 1997, you guys, how is that possible?) and attitude it takes to pull off even the funkiest looks, so I love it when she takes fashion risks on the red carpet. And I really loved this dress when I thought it was printed with a sort of pop art eye exam, but then I realized it’s actually a jumble of letters from the Versace logo. Now I’m torn. What do you guys think? Is her label-centric look tacky or fabulous? [Photo: Splash News]

Kristen Stewart is all over the place right now promoting “Breaking Dawn: Part 2,” and given her newly minted sartorial risk-taker status (seriously, girlfriend is really going for it these days), we are just full of trampire fashion fodder. (I say that in an endearing way. J’aime K. Stew.) Her latest look is this chromed highlighter yellow Dior minidress — it hasn’t appeared on the runway, which is all the proof we need to believe that Raf Simons cut this especially for Kristen. Roughly translated into plain English from fashion world vernacular: “You are a big fucking deal.” The “Twilight” starlet finished off the neon look with a pair of patterned black-and-white pumps, complete with spiked ankle straps (which, it’s worth noting, she loved so much she wore them to a Spanish talk show appearance earlier in the day). Personally, I’m erring on the side of this look being so wrong it’s right. What say you?
