GQ: Lady blogs like Jezebel exploded after the episode with the Liz-hires-a-feminist-comic thing. It sure seemed like you were commenting on the outrage when Olivia Munn — hot lady, not necessarily hot comic — was hired on “The Daily Show.”
Tina Fey: I was actually really pleased that Jezebel got that it was about the whole Olivia thing, because the treatment of Olivia was weird on that site. She just kept getting reamed! And it was this weird mix. They would go after her, and then the next thing would be like, “Defending the Rights of Sex Workers.” And I was just like, “Well, why can’t we just say Olivia’s a sex worker? Leave her alone!”

Oh, to be a fly on the wall in some beer-drenched frat house full of peeps who don’t understand “30 Rock” is satire. In last night’s episode, Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) went for Lasig surgery—that’s an off-brand Lasik—and got her hair did in a ferocious new ‘do, all to look TV-ready for Jack’s new show, “Dealbreakers.” It backfired, of course, and that was even before the high-definition camera. On last night’s episode of “30 Rock,” the company has to undergo some cuts, and Liz Lemon is told she has to pare away 25 percent of her budget. But she can’t find anything to get rid of (straw are not an unnecessary expense!). Liz tries to play by the rules, pleading her case to the consultant who is overseeing the budget cuts, but that doesn’t help. So, she decides to try to give the budget consultant “a taste of the Lemon” in exchange for her staff not getting fired. Things work out in the end, but not because she dons a slutty red ruched dress and hooker boots.

30 Rock was finally back on TV last night, after the long hiatus during the writer’s strike. We’re thrilled! And so must be the media, because Frisky fave Tina Fey is on two major magazine covers this month, Marie Claire and Entertainment Weekly. (She’s also got the comedy Baby Mama coming out soon, alongside Amy Poehler.) Oh, and on last night’s episode of 30 Rock, Liz Lemon was disgusted by the network’s latest hit, MILF Island. See what it’s all about, after the jump. Keep reading »
