Give your lips the royal treatment this Valentine’s Day with the Lipstick Queen discovery set. The three-pack features Medieval, a sexy, sheer red, Saint Nude, a chic neutral, and Butterfly Ball in Trance, a shimmering shade of raspberry. All of the colors are really classic, not too saturated or too sheer. And the best part is that they wear like a lipstick, but feel like a gloss, with ultra-moisturizing Vitamin E and shea butter that will keep winter lips luscious. Perfect for smooching.
Is your man a Pikachu fan? Does he wish you were sexy in Pokemon ways? Do you harbor secret fantasies involving video games? DeviantART user Viridis Somnio created this Pikachu lip look.
“This is a bonus Animal-ipstick I did for a photo assignment. It’s Pikachu! Everyone in class loooved this one. My final project was a total of 20 photos of anything I wanted. Mine is sort of a typology, but the only consistent element are my lips.”

Shopbop.com, one of our favorite online sources for designer duds and accessories, and Sephora have released the limited-edition SEPHORA COLLECTION Palette Color Play 5 in 1 palette that was inspired by the Shopbop “Faces of Fashion” editorial look book. This makeup kit contains five distinct mini palettes based on the five fashion icons: “A Nod to Mod,” “Angelic Boudoir,” “Black is the New Black,” “Boho Bombshell,” and “Classics Never Die.” The palettes contain every color imaginable from taupe to black, pink to blue, and purple to green. What’s even better is that the kit comes with a portable mirror compact, so you can pop one of the mini palettes in and take it with you for makeup touch-ups on the go. And you can’t beat the value of $150 for $30. [Sephora] Keep reading »
When I was in sixth grade, I bought a lime green mood-changing lipstick for $1.25. It painted my mouth a heinous hot pink. I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup at the time, but I think my mom let me wear it as a punishment because it was so horrible.
So you can understand my apprehension when I read about Urban Outfitters‘ new mood-changing lipsticks. The five pastel shades are supposed go on extremely sheer in varying degrees of pink and leave lips moisturized. All that being said, I’m still having a difficult time thinking of Urban as a beauty emporium. Would you try mood-changing lipstick? [Refinery 29] Keep reading »
We’d be happy with having this red tartan bag just because it’s perfect for transporting our tiny valuables–like our favorite lipstick, coins, or jewelry. But MAC sweetened the deal by adding VIVA GLAM V lipstick and lip gloss to the ‘Tis Noble to Give VIVA GLAM Lip Bag. What’s even better? All proceeds go to the MAC AIDS Fund to help support people living with HIV/AIDS.
We’re loving these street-style snaps from Paris Fashion Week for the bold lips these ladies are rocking. We’ve seen neon lipstick hues on the runway before, but know the super bright beauty look doesn’t always translate so well to the real world. These girls show you how it’s done—go minimal with the rest of your makeup and keep your hair simple and natural. If you’re looking for some products to try out a fruity punch pout, check out our suggestions after the jump! [Cafe Mode] Keep reading »
Not since the days of Cindy Crawford and plum-brown shades have we really rocked a matte lip. But Nars Cosmetics is bringing the texture back with the announcement of their new Pure Matte lipstick. Another lipstick debut that has garnered lots of blog attention recently—Tom Ford’s Private Blend collection, which features a super-glam, high-sheen finish.
Are you a matte or glossy kind of girl? For which seasons/occasions do you switch it up? [Talking Makeup, Luxist] Keep reading »
Sometimes, a lip stain just isn’t enough. This trio from Bare Escentuals contains a lip liner, lipstick, and lip gloss all in one package. So you can play around with different combinations depending on the look you want. Wear just the lipstick or gloss for an office-appropriate look, and then get a shiny, pigmented pout with all three for a night out on the town. We recommend this mauve color, which matches a variety of skin tones really well. And yes, lip liner is back!
I might have been able to excuse Ke$ha‘s blue lipstick if she hadn’t also worn teal eyeliner. But when I really think about it, this is a really tame cry for attention; she could do worse. On another note, doesn’t Ke$ha look like Stephanie Pratt? [NYC, 8/2/10] Keep reading »
I’ve had a love-hate relationship with lipstick for the last two years. I love red lipstick and apply it perfectly in the morning, even using a matching lip liner to outline and fill in my lips first. But it never fails that once I take a mouthful of yogurt at work, my spoon is wearing most of my lipstick. I can’t stand to see lipstick marks on utensils, glasses, or napkins, especially if I’m the smudgy culprit. What I hate more, though, is having lipstick on my teeth and no one telling me. So I was pretty psyched to try out L’Oreal’s Infallible Never Fail Lipcolour Stars Collection in Beyonce Red, a very vibrant red suitable for life in the limelight and on stage. The Infallible lip color basecoat and topcoat are housed in a handy-dandy compact that functions as a mirror in a pinch too. Although the name suggests this cosmetic is incapable of error, there are some rules to follow. Keep reading »
