How To Fight The Flu This Season: Lip Balm

LaRocca Skincare

‘Tis nearly the season of the dreaded flu shot. Those things hurt! And they make you feel awful for a day. Another alternative? LaRocca’s Shield Multi-Active lip balm contains bacteria-fighting ingredients like Camu Camu, a blend of amino acids and vitamin C, which helps strengthen your immune system. There’s also Cha de burge, which is another property used to help kill viruses. (Yeah, we’ve never heard of either of those before, either. But everything you read on the internet is true, right?)

“Anti-Microbal” elements aside, the balm also acts as a good lip moisturizer. Does it really fight off illness? We hear the psychosomatic benefits are wonderful. [$18, LaRoccaSkinCare.com via DailyCandy]

eos Lip Balm

eos Lipbalm

This may be just a random egg-shaped eos Lip Balm, but we love it! The best part about loving it is that it makes no sense why you’ll love it so much. Here are the clues to the mystery: It’s 95 percent organic, 100 percent natural, and comes in a rainbow of colors. The real reason though? This lip balm glides on smoothly (the brand name is short for Evolution of Smooth after all), fits into any small compartment, and sits up without ever teetering over. [$4, Drugstore.com]

The World’s Weirdest Lip Balms

Cheetos Chapstick

I have a chapstick problem. I slather on the stuff approximately once every four minutes and compulsively use my favorites until there is nothing (nothing!) left in the tube. I’m all for cherry, pomegranate, and watermelon, but I’m so over fruity balms. And now there’s proof that there is a god: a company called Lotta Luv is making (...wait for it…) Cheetos chapstick, which I hope to buy immediately. Is it the lip balm I’d break out on a hot date? No. But anything that tastes like Cheetos is fine by me. [Buzzfeed]

Here are some other lip balms I can’t believe exist.

Crave: The Body Shop’s New Dragon Fruit Lip Butter

The Body Shop's New Dragon Fruit Lip Butter

For girls who love safe sex as much as new lip goo, The Body Shop and MTV have debuted a dragon fruit/shea lip butter to raise money for MTV’s Staying Alive campaign. About $5 from each fruity butter will go towards Staying Alive, which promotes safe sex and teaches HIV/AIDS awareness among young people.  Beauty for a worthy cause—we love it! [$8, The Body Shop]

Crave: Weleda Everon Lip Balm

Weleda Everon Lip Balm

There was a period of time when our handbag contained 15 different kinds of lip gloss, balm, and other assorted goo that we used depending on the occasion. There was one that made our pout look more kissable, one for when our lips were really chapped, and another when we wanted to resemble Dita Von Teese, only with clothes on. Now, we’re a one-balm kind of girl, and Weleda Everon is our soul mate. [$5, Weleda.com]

We’re giving away five Weleda Everon Lip Blams, but you have to work if you want your lips to be properly moisturized. The five best commenters for this coming week—from today, Friday, Feb. 27 through Thursday, March 5—will be awarded with one. So, be as clever, smart, and original as you can!
