Cheap Chic: Time Machine Ring

I love this “Time Machine” ring from Sense of Fashion. The 14k gold plated scrolls are so lovely and the vintage watch face still tells time! Also, it’s adjustable, which makes it great for those always-changing finger sizes. The coolest part: It’s limited edition offered at a mass production price! There’s only one left out of the 12 made, however, so don’t wait too long if you want it! [$32, Sense of Fashion] Keep reading »

Gaga Dolla Bills, Ya’ll

I love Lady Gaga just as much as everyone else. But there’s a surefire way to kill a good thing, and that’s overexposure. Right about now, I’m thinking we should take it easy on the Gaga obsession, for fear that we’ll become sick of her like a bad romance. Despite my fears, Craig Gleason got a bit creative with her over-the-top outfits and headpieces, and upped her importance to presidential status. Instead of leaving good old George Washington on the dollar bills, Craig painted over our first President, turning the founding father into the Fame Monster. We’re especially loving the replication of her V cover and her Mickey Mouse sunnies. You can purchase a framed set of three for $30. [Rakk and Ruin via Refinery29] Keep reading »

Michel Stipe Wants You to Wear A Cassette

Though Martin Margiela is a huge recluse, the brand is getting a very recognizable face, in the form of Michael Stipe from R.E.M. He’s designed a silver microcassette as a form of jewelry. But the really fun part with this is that he’s leaving it all up to the wearer. Fashion it like a necklace, use it on a headband, attach it to your shoelaces — it’s all up to your creativity. “The microcassette can not be defined as either a piece of jewelery or an art object,” a Margiela spokesperson said. “It’s both and neither at the same time. It can be worn or displayed in any way the wearer and owner desires.”

So Wrong, It’s Right? $300 Dolls by Lanvin

Please file this under totally gratuitous, irrational, over the top, luxury: super pricey figurines by Lanvin. The Paris-based luxury label has partnered with Franz Porcelain to create a line of limited edition dolls that range in price from $210 to $375. What makes them so special? Nothing really, except that the collection of six handcrafted pieces are all dolled up (pun intended) in the latest looks from the House of Lanvin. So to put it in perspective, the fact that a dress from Lanvin might cost several thousand dollars but a doll wearing the same from Lanvin only costs a couple of hundred makes this a steal, right? OK, maybe not. In case you do agree though, please note that these are limited edition. Only 800 per style will be put into production and will be available at Lanvin boutiques worldwide.
