Legs For Freakin’ Days

Nothing goes better with statuesque legs than a mini dress. And Lily Cole certainly worked hers at the Japanese premiere of “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.” So jealous right now! [Tokyo, 1/14/10] Keep reading »

Quotable: Lily Cole Is A Serious S.T.A.

“I’d like to act and not really model so much. I wouldn’t want to treat acting as a convenient thing to do now and again. I’ve been doing modeling for years and I feel like I’ve taken out of it what I need to. I’m ready for new things.”

– Supermodel-turned-actress Lily Cole, who we personally think held her own opposite Heath Ledger and Christopher Plummer in “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” [Monsters and Critics]

The Imaginarium Of Lily’s Tailor

Supermodel and star of “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” Lily Cole looked as gorgeous as ever at the premiere last night, but it looks like a chunk of her pinstriped suit went missing. (No offense, but is it just us or does this outfit remind you of something Paula Abdul would have worn circa 1994?) [NYC, 12/7/09] Keep reading »

Lady Gaga Is What’s For Dinner

Lady Gaga parades her way through the December issue of Vogue magazine in a bizarre reenactment of Hansel and Gretel costarring Lily Cole and Andrew Garfield that was shot by Annie Leibovitz. “I’ve always been an outspoken and extreme dresser,” Miss Gaga confesses. You don’t say? At one point, Vogue Creative Director Grace Coddington reveals, she-who-wears-no-pants showed up on set “stark naked except for her white rubber raincoat and some very, very high heels.” It’s only a matter of time, one supposes, before the Lady forsakes clothes altogether, no? The full “Lady Gaga Does Hansel and Gretel” images after the jump. Keep reading »

Hair Model Citizen: Maybe She Sold Her Soul To The Devil

We seriously can’t wait for “The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus” to come out, but for now, we’ll settle for its star, Model Citizen Lily Cole’s outstanding hairdo. She could’ve gone for a perfectly polished blow-dry (like the ones we’re beginning to see on the red carpet again), but we like this toned-down version. To get the look, blow-dry until it’s almost there but the ends are ever so slightly damp. Work a cream stylant like John Frieda Straight Fixation Smoothing Creme into the ends and twist large sections (about four total) around with your fingers. Air-dry and traipse off to your film premiere or, ah, work. [Paris, 9/30/09] Keep reading »

Fashion Week: Models Who Do More

During Fashion Week it’s easy to forget some of the pretty ladies walking down the runway do more than just act as coat hangers for fabulously over-priced garments. That’s why our girls at Glam put together this list of models who do more.

The (oft over-used) term supermodel gets tossed around a lot. But whether or not these catwalk queens have been officially coined with that status, they’re all super in our eyes. Somewhere between strutting down the catwalk in New York and Paris, and shooting high-fashion spreads at some exotic locale in the South Pacific, these beauties have also found time to become social activists, authors, and aspiring actresses–proving that they’re much more than just a pretty face.

The Writer: Alek Wek — Discovered at an outdoor market in London, Alek Wek’s strikingly unconventional look can be found grazing the catwalks of leading designers across the globe. But what has remained undiscovered, is her unconventional upbringing in the south of Sudan. Published in 2007, Wek released the autobiography, Alek, which probes into those youthful years: the bold escape from a home torn by civil-war and ultimate climb to stardom.
