Contrary to popular belief, Tim McGraw is more than just sex on a stick. In his 24-year career as one of country music’s greatest singers, he’s racked up three Grammys, 14 ACM Awards, 11 CMA Awards, 10 American Music Awards, 3 People’s Choice Awards, and the prestigious Katie And Winona Award For Country Music DILF of the Year (spoiler alert: he ties with Luke Bryan every year). He’s also a father of three girls, married to Faith Hill, son of the late Tug McGraw, and the hottest man to wear a cowboy hat since … ever. To pay tribute to Tim on his 47th birthday(!) we’re taking a look at 15 of his classic song lyrics that have taught us valuable life lessons while we belted them out in the car. Turns out this country bad boy is full of fortune cookie-worthy wisdom! Keep reading »
I worked at Whole Foods for almost four years, the majority of which I spent in the bakery as a cake decorator in a fun, busy suburban store. It had some serious ups and downs and a variety of challenges that were unique to the company and their customer demographic. I’m glad I had the experience because it tested my mettle and grew some great friendships. After reading 7 Life Lessons I Learned from Working at Starbucks, I was inspired to write my own list, with an organic, artisan, locally sourced Whole Foods twist. Here are 5 indispensable life lessons I learned while working at one of the most beloved/hated grocery store chains in the country… Keep reading »
Today a very special day, friends. It’s Connie Britton’s birthday! To say we love Connie would be a massive understatement. We are ridiculously obsessed with Connie. As Tami Taylor, she gave us the mother/best friend/wife/sister we always wanted. As Rayna James, she became our new favorite fictional country singer. As Vivien Harmon on the first season of “American Horror Story,” we prayed for her triumph over that scary haunted house. In real life, she’s a Planned Parenthood-supporting badass. There are countless ways we could pay homage to the Goddess that is Connie, but today we’d like to focus on just one of her many, many amazing features: her hair. So many valuable life lessons can be gleaned from Connie Britton’s famous golden mane, such as… Keep reading »
2013 was a pretty big year for me. I turned 28. I moved across the country. I started doing art again. I got a Twitter reply from Wynonna Judd. But most importantly, 2013 was the year that a shit ton of really important, embarrassingly simple life lessons finally clicked. You know how you can hear something 100 times in 100 different ways before it actually gets through to you? All of the things I learned this year fall firmly into that category: things that I maybe should have learned when I was, like, 10, but for whatever reason, didn’t get until just now. This, my friends, was my year of “getting it,” and here are my humble epiphanies: Keep reading »
Not to sound like a fall cliche of a human being, but this weekend I went apple picking on a small farm in New England. And as these activities which snap you out of your everyday routine tend to, apple picking led to my own mini-spiritual awakening. As I was harvesting my bushel of fruit and feeling one with nature, I had a few bite-sized revelations: Keep reading »
Out of every bright star in the overcrowded reality TV sky, I have to say that Angela “Big Ang” Raiola is my absolute favorite. I discovered Big Ang one afternoon, slumped on the couch after a very late night, scrolling thru the deep, dark corners of Hulu. Settling on Mob Wives, I was greeted with a vision. Who is this glorious creature before me? I thought. Those lips. That hair. Those giant boobs that can really only be described as “melons.” Big Ang, with a voice like crushing gravel, a body that is actually out of tis world and an aesthetic that is Janis from the Muppets meets Marissa Tomei in My Cousin Vinny with a dash of early Kardashian, is a woman after my own heart.
