Yesterday I spent a few hours parked on my couch drinking wine and binge-watching “Parks & Rec.” It was glorious. I couldn’t help but notice, over the course of five or six episodes, that Leslie Knope displays a particular fondness for anchor prints, wearing both this Equipment blouse (which is sold out, sadly) and this Madewell anchor sweater (currently sold out on the Madewell site, but available on Shopbop). Since I’m always eager to copy anything and everything Leslie does, I thought I’d round up a few other anchor-themed pieces for anyone who wants to bring a little nautical Knope swagger into their wardrobe. Did you guys catch “Parks and Recreation” last night? SPOILER ALERT (that was already ruined by the headline, sorry): Leslie and Ben got married! In true Leslie fashion, the wedding came together at the last minute in a whirlwind of excitement and expertly delegated tasks. Leslie asked her BFF Ann to make her a dress based on the “sensuality of Eleanor Roosevelt combined with the animal magnetism of Leslie Stahl.” An hour later, Ann delivered this fabulous lace and newspaper creation, featuring articles and memos from Leslie’s illustrious career. God, could this show get any cuter? Check out another pic after the jump! [Us Weekly] Keep reading »
We’re still not quite over the death of Pawnee, Indiana’s littlest hero, Li’l Sebastian, the mini-horse and town mascot. Thankfully, someone’s trying to get to the bottom of his death, in this mega-mashup parody “Parks and Recreation: The Movie: The Murder: The Li’l Sebastian.” We’re thinking Leslie Knope, in the barnyard, with a candlestick. Have you been going through “Breaking Bad”/Mike Ehrmantraut withdrawal? Good thing actor Jonathan Banks, who played Walter White’s crusty foil on “BB,” did a guest spot on “Parks And Recreation” last night, playing Ben Wyatt’s dad. He seems to have brought a lot of Mike to the role.
“It was a real honor that in my sitcom debut I got to meet someone like Leslie Knope, who believes so deeply in public service. She’s an example for men and women across the country that there’s no higher calling than helping other people. On a personal note, I’ll never figure out how Leslie Knope got my home phone number, but that really just shows how committed she is.”
–Vice President Joe Biden expresses his delight about making a cameo on “Parks and Recreation” alongside Amy Poehler’s character Leslie Knope, who has an infamous crush on him. As Leslie explained last season, “Joe Biden is on my celebrity sex list–well, he is my celebrity sex list.” Excited to see the pair’s sexual chemistry in action? Biden’s episode airs November 15th. It’s no secret that Leslie Knope is one of our favorite characters on TV. She’s smart, funny, ambitious, loyal, and endlessly committed to her town, her friends, and her job. Her wardrobe of grey suits, tie-front blouses, simple jewelry, and sensible shoes isn’t exactly high fashion, but it’s actually a pretty cute style equation for a business casual work environment.
