Quote Of The Day: Leona Lewis Talks About Being Attacked

Splash News

“I’m from Hackney, so I’m hard. I’m not going to let something like that bother me There was always some kind of craziness going on in my neighborhood ... It’s horrible, no matter who you are, to be physically attacked by someone, but I’m not letting it worry me. I know it was an isolated incident. It’s just a shame it happened at all. I’m now trying to put it in the past and get over it. I’m a positive person and I try to look at the good side of everything.”

—Leona Lewis in an exclusive interview with The Sun discusses being attacked at a book signing earlier this year

Get Your Sparks Plugged: Electricians Are The New Dude Of Choice

Leona Lewis and her electrician boyfriend

Turns out Pamela Anderson isn’t the only star dating an electrician. British pop singer Leona Lewis has been getting loads of flack for staying with her boyfriend of seven years, Lou Al-Chamaa, also a master of all things electric. She’s pissed that everyone’s heckling her. “It does make me angry,” she said. “Because he’s a great person. And it doesn’t matter what you do in life, what your job is, where you come from. For people to think that you should leave someone because, all of a sudden, you’re a singer and you have opportunities. I feel very sorry for them.” Leona’s sparky (which is apparently slang for electrician) also happens to be hawt, which sweetens the deal. [People]

Quickies: Leona Lewis Gets Slapped By A Fan, What’s The Reverse Mangina, & Much More

A Fan Slapped Leona Lewis At Her Book Signing
  • Leona Lewis was slapped by a “fan,” who police have arrested, at her Dreams book signing. [PopEater]—No one seems to know why he slapped her, but this will probably affect how close fans are allowed to get to her in the future. My theory is the fan got upset because Leona was pretending to be a diva.
  • A bald Tom Cruise showed his wry sense of humor when he made a cameo in “Tropic Thunder,” but I bet you’ll find other favorite movie cameos on this list. [Starpulse]—I’m slightly embarrassed to admit this, but Keith Richards in “Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End” is one of my faves because I have a weird thing for him, even though “Birth of A Nation” is one of his favorite movies.

These Singers Are Not “Divas”

Miley Cyrus And Kelly Clarkson Are Not Divas

VH1 is bringing back its “VH1 Divas” concert series Sept. 17 after a four-year hiatus. But don’t get too excited yet. Some idiot over at the network thinks Miley Cyrus, Leona Lewis, Kelly Clarkson, and Adele should join the ranks of Mary J. Blige, Cher, Aretha Franklin, and Celine Dion, who have all been honored on the broadcast concert before. These four young singers, however, are not divas—they’re not even on their way to becoming divas!

Gallery: Celebrities Who Fantasy Cast Imaginary Movies About Themselves

Meghan McCain/Hillary Duff

Meghan McCain likes to plan ahead. The Daily Beast blogger told the NY Daily News that she would love for Hillary Duff to play her in a movie based on her new book. Except there is no talk of a movie, and the book hasn’t even been released yet. But that hasn’t stopped the GOP celeb from casting the rest of her “film”: she also wants Bradley Cooper in the pic. Meghan’s debut novel—a mix of politics and memoir—describes how “progressive Republicans” like herself fit into the conservative GOP party today. The book is set to come out next spring, but I’m guessing any inspired viewing material will just end up on YouTube sans the Duffster. [NY Daily News]

Coming Soon: Mariah Carey, The Musical

Mariah Carey movie Glitter

If you’re not getting enough of Mariah Carey in the tabloids and press these days, just wait a few months. Carey has been in discussions about creating “Glitter” the musical, as we’re calling the Broadway production about her life. A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper that she’s not sure whether she’ll play herself yet, but the likes of Vanessa Hudgens and Eva Longoria-Parker are being considered. Who knew the “Desperate Housewife” could sing? Carey supposedly wants Leona Lewis to play her; she would be better able than most at tackling Carey’s eight-octave vocal range, after all. Plus, we already know she can play crazy from the UK video for “Bleeding Love.” [Daily Mirror UK]

He Says/She Says: Leona Lewis’s “Bleeding Love”

Today, my friend Jon and I got a little girly and watched/listened to Leona Lewis’s “Bleeding Love.” A little-known fact about “Bleeding Love” is that it was written by Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic and Jesse McCarthney of BOP magazine. The song is currently the number one song at the iTunes Store, and it was the top single of 2007 in the U.K. There are two videos for the song, a U.K. video, and a U.S. one. We accidentally watched the U.K. version, but it is much more dramatic than the one meant for us, which features Leona riding around Times Square in a taxi. I guess they thought the domestic violence might not be as big of a hit here?

Catherine: Are you in the mood for a little Leona Lewis in the afternoon?
Jon: I think so.
C: You think so? You know so!
