Megan Elizabeth Thode (pictured) is suing Lehigh University for getting a C+ in one of her graduate classes — a C+ that she claims has prevented her from getting a job. Thode — who attended the university tuition-free, because her father is a professor at the school — graduated in 2009. But she wants $1.3 million in what she claims are lost wages thanks to that C+.

I'm Never Dating Again!
"They don't say 1 in 5 are part of an attempted murder"

I think Mary Kay Beckman wins the award for the worst online date of all time. We complain about our online dates with weirdos and shitbirds (there have been a lot), but we’ve got nothing on her awful date. The 50-year-old real estate agent is suing Match.com for $10 million because her date tried to kill her. After a week of dating, Wade Ridley tried to stab her to death. “He broke into my garage … When the police arrested him, he said he wasn’t there to hurt me. He was there to kill me. His intent was to kill me that night.” Ridley stabbed Beckman 10 times with a butcher knife, and when the knife broke, he stomped on her head.  Keep reading »

I still don’t understand why bachelor/bachelorette parties need to involve strippers. Can’t everyone just go make pottery or something? Whatever. I guess that’s none of my concern. Here’s a story that will make you think twice about celebrating your last days of singledom with strippers. Back in November of 2012 2010, Philadelphia groom-to-be, Patrick Gallagher, was expecting a grand ol’ time when he purchased the “Bachelor’s Package” at a local strip club. The special bachelor treatment included him joining strippers onstage for a special show. That’s when things went very wrong. Keep reading »

Lawsuit-Happy Intern Takes On Hearst, Fenton Fallon

First, Xuedan “Diana” Wang sued Hearst Magazines, alleging that her internship with the company’s Harper’s Bazaar wasn’t what she signed up for. According to a lawsuit Wang filed, she claimed that she worked up to 55 hours a week, doing things like delivering fashion samples and doing tons of menial work.

Incredibly, she was hired by someone else as an intern — jewelry designer Fenton Fallon. And now she’s suing them. Wang says she was hired as a “press intern” but was asked to make jewelry for the label instead. Keep reading »

Alexander Wang is not a happy man. The young designer was accused by former employee Wenyu Lu of running a sweatshop. Lu, in a $50 million lawsuit against the designer, claims that he was forced to work 84-hour work weeks sewing Wang’s clothes. And, Lu alleges, he once passed out after working for 25 hours straight. Now the case is advancing forward, and will be refiled on the federal level.

Forever 21 gets sued by a lot of people, but usually it’s for things like copyright infringement or stealing designers’ work. The latest lawsuit is coming from inside the corporation, though. Employees Jazzreeal Jones, Jessica Ramos, Shanelle Thompson, Alyssa Elias and Tiffinee Linthicum claim that they were kept  after the ends of shifts and during their lunch breaks in order to be searched for stolen merchandise. Because in those cases they had already clocked out, the employees are claiming they deserve to be paid for that time.

If their claim is deemed legitimate, then it could force Forever 21 to pay millions in back wages to other employees who have undergone similar treatment. Keep reading »

A Jury Will Decide If “Catfish” Was A Hoax

Even though the filmmakers and producers claimed that the movie “Catfish” was NOT a hoax, the question still lingered in people’s minds. After seeing the film and having endless discussions with friends—mostly about how hot Nev is—I feel confident that the film was really, really real. But not everyone agrees with me about the film’s authenticity, even after the Ariel and Nev Schulman and Henry Joost addressed the issue on “20/20.” Well, soon we will know for sure if “Catfish” was a ruse due to a lawsuit being brought against the film. Warning: spoilers after the jump. Keep reading »

Oprah Gets Sued For One Trillion Dollars

Oprah Winfrey and her production company, Harpo Inc., is being sued for $1 trillion for allegedly plagiarizing part of author Damon Lloyd Goffe’s book, A Tome of Poetry, in her internet-published book Pieces of my Soul. The copyright infringement suit was filed on July 31, and Goffe says that Winfrey even admitted to using his book a year ago. “In April 2008, Oprah confessed to seizing original works of authorship.” And since Winfrey allegedly sold 650 million copies of her book online for $20 each, Goffe thinks he deserves $1.2 trillion in damages. “Milk” Screenwriter Sues Over Sexytime Photos

Nakey pics of “Milk” screenwriter Dustin Lance Black and his ex-boyfriend engaged in all sorts of positions found their way onto StarzLife.com back in June. But now this site, and the dude who Black claims stole the photos, may have to pay a hefty fee. Black is suing for $3 million smackeroos! He says the use of the pictures is an invasion of his privacy, copyright infringement, and more. Oh yeah, and he’s totally confused because he thought these pics were deleted forever ago?

Interesting that Black chose not to target Perez Hilton. If Perez hadn’t posted the photos, they would have been like a tree falling in the forest. And that was not a peen joke. [NY Post] Keep reading »
