The Rules For Cincinnati Bengals Cheerleaders Are Tragic

According to Lacey T, the a 27-year-old Oakland Raiders cheerleader who filed an unfair labor practices lawsuit on behalf of all the Raiderettes, there are some majorly screwed up and “illegal” demands placed on NFL cheerleaders. The fact  that Cincinnati Ben-Gal Alexa Brenneman has filed a similar lawsuit against her team for violating federal employment laws only seems to confirm that treating cheerleaders like underpaid (the lawsuit says cheerleaders in Cincinnati make $900 a season), undervalued objects is a common practice in the NFL. Below, some of the “rules” Brenneman claims she was forced to abide by — including  mandates  about “no panties, “slouchy breasts” and “scale weight.” Be prepared to be outraged.  Keep reading »

Plenty of people write Internet comments, especially if they found a dead fly in their guacamole. But some Yelp reviewers want payment for their “writing,” which they claim is integral to the site’s success. A California class action lawsuit filed by a group of reviewers says they are actually unpaid employees. Yelp is in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act, they claim, because the site “could not exist, nor make its enormous returns, without its domination and control over non-wage writers.” They even call the site a “slave ship.” Seriously?  Keep reading »

On her first day of training at the European Wax Center in Wexford, PA, certified aesthetician Jennifer Finley claims she was required to perform a Brazilian bikini wax on a coworker and to have one done on herself. When Finley refused to participate in the pubic hair removal, unlike the other trainees, she was let go on the spot by the store’s owner.

“I was more than shocked. I was humiliated. I felt what they were doing was illegal. It was very embarrassing,” Finley said of the experience. Keep reading »

In 2010, high school teacher Johnson McDowell wore a purple shirt to school in solidarity with bullied LGBT youth, and screened a video about someone that had committed suicide after being bullied for his sexual orientation. At the end of the video, his student, Daniel Glawacki, stated that he could not accept gay people because of his religion. He also questioned McDowell for presenting his personal views via his clothing, because earlier in class McDowell had asked a student to remove a belt with the Confederate flag on it. Glawacki and one other student were then dismissed from class for stating that they would not accept homosexuality.

Then Glawicki took his case to court, claiming that he was wrongly dismissed.

I'm Never Dating Again!
"They don't say 1 in 5 are part of an attempted murder"

I think Mary Kay Beckman wins the award for the worst online date of all time. We complain about our online dates with weirdos and shitbirds (there have been a lot), but we’ve got nothing on her awful date. The 50-year-old real estate agent is suing Match.com for $10 million because her date tried to kill her. After a week of dating, Wade Ridley tried to stab her to death. “He broke into my garage … When the police arrested him, he said he wasn’t there to hurt me. He was there to kill me. His intent was to kill me that night.” Ridley stabbed Beckman 10 times with a butcher knife, and when the knife broke, he stomped on her head.  Keep reading »

I still don’t understand why bachelor/bachelorette parties need to involve strippers. Can’t everyone just go make pottery or something? Whatever. I guess that’s none of my concern. Here’s a story that will make you think twice about celebrating your last days of singledom with strippers. Back in November of 2012 2010, Philadelphia groom-to-be, Patrick Gallagher, was expecting a grand ol’ time when he purchased the “Bachelor’s Package” at a local strip club. The special bachelor treatment included him joining strippers onstage for a special show. That’s when things went very wrong. Keep reading »

Lawsuit-Happy Intern Takes On Hearst, Fenton Fallon

First, Xuedan “Diana” Wang sued Hearst Magazines, alleging that her internship with the company’s Harper’s Bazaar wasn’t what she signed up for. According to a lawsuit Wang filed, she claimed that she worked up to 55 hours a week, doing things like delivering fashion samples and doing tons of menial work.

Incredibly, she was hired by someone else as an intern — jewelry designer Fenton Fallon. And now she’s suing them. Wang says she was hired as a “press intern” but was asked to make jewelry for the label instead. Keep reading »
