Betty White appeared on “Larry King Live” last night, to talk about her gig hosting “Saturday Night Live” on May 8. Apparently, Lorne Michaels always wanted Betty to host and asked her three times back in the day—she turned it down because she felt it was too “New York.” In the clip above, Larry went on to ask some uh, kind of pervy questions. “You were a loose woman, Betty, weren’t you?” he asked. His follow-up: “Would you say you were easy?” Uh, can someone teach him some terminology not out of the 1950s? Oh, Carrie Prejean. Last night, she appeared on “Larry King Live” to talk about her book. After a warm-up question about whom she considers to be a hero (Sarah Palin, who is “doing great things”), things went way downhill. Larry King brought up the fact that Prejean settled with the Miss California USA organization, which she had been suing for religious discrimination, and asked her why she’d decided not to continue with the suit. Carrie refused to answer, saying that she couldn’t discuss the mediation. Now, don’t get me wrong: Larry King is far from my favorite interviewer, and I do sometimes think he bullies his guests. But this was a perfectly reasonable question—asking for her personal feelings about the case, not any legal details. But she kept refusing to answer, telling him he was “being inappropriate.” Uh, honey? You revealed this week that you made a sex tape. I actually think he took it easy on you by not bringing that up. But Carrie was pissed. When the first caller asked her about gay marriage, she took off her microphone and proceeded to sit there smirking in protest. Earlier this month Chris Brown taped an interview with Larry King that’s set to air this Wednesday. In an exclusive preview, Brown says he “doesn’t remember” hitting Rihanna, that’s not who “I pride myself on being,” and that he’s “in shock.” Uh-huh.

Last night Kate Gosselin was on “Larry King Live” where she reminded us again why we should all be on her side and not her estranged husband’s. She admits (with a little hesitancy) that Jon is a good father and that there’s a lot they agree on when it comes to raising their children, but she let it be known there are decisions he’s making that she wouldn’t necessarily make herself. Hmm ... like cavorting around with dates half her age and spending her children’s college fund on extravagant gifts like BMWs and porches for her summer flings, maybe? “I’m looking towards the future and the decisions of today that affect tomorrow ... more so than he is,” Kate said diplomatically. Asked whether she feels single, Kate replied, “I am not yet divorced ... officially.” “But how do you feel?” Larry pressed. “I don’t know,” she replied honestly. She admits that she’s lonely, but far too busy to even think about dating right now. I guess that’s another thing she and Jon differ on. Clip above.

As we told you yesterday, Kathy Griffin and Sarah Palin‘s grandbaby-daddy, Levi Johnston, are, like, totally Demi and Ashton 2.0. Well, they escorted each other to the Teen Choice Awards Sunday evening anyway, and last night they appeared together on “Larry King Live” to dish about their date, and you know what? I think we may have underestimated ol’ Levi.

Kathy Griffin is a tough broad to handle and, albeit with a little help from his “chew,” Levi can totally hold his own with her. “Well, you’re a lot to take care of,” Levi says in his slow, sheepish drawl when Kathy berates him for his bad habit and then goes on to make sexually suggestive comments for the duration of their interview. I know Kathy loves her gays, but Levi makes such an excellent straight man to her goofy-crazy, she might want to consider taking him on the road. Forget “My Life on the D-List,” I want to see these two starring in their very own version of “The Newlyweds.”

Boyfriend of the Year Chris Brown is getting his slap on the wrist in a L.A. courtroom today and then appearing on “Larry King Live” (reportedly after Oprah’s camp said “No way, Jose” to his sorry ass). Brown’s schedule is so free, you see, because he isn’t doing any jail time for beating the crap out of his girlfriend.
