Sometimes Karl Lagerfeld likes to make “art.” This means that he films something in black and white, tries to impersonate Truffaut, and adds a sultry girl dressed up in Chanel. His latest oeuvre, if you haven’t caught it yet, is a short called “Vol de Jour” and features model Lara Stone and some shaggy-haired dude who rob a bunch of Chanel stores in Paris. The hilarious thing about this movie is how completely implausible the robberies are as store clerks are filmed waiting for the couple to pass before deciding, “Oh hey, we better catch those thieves.” And newsflash: most Chanel stores have detectable tags and menacing security guards.
