DIY Laptop Case From Your Old Hoodie

OK, this is just plain cool. Someone over at Conceptual Devices got crafty with a simple gray hoodie and thought of the multiple functions it can serve. The product of their brainstorm turned into a feature called “Just Undo It,” where they mold a simple hoodie into a variety of different things including a pillow, a hand bag, and even a laptop carrier, which is perfect for the writer on the go. And I’m totally memorizing the pillow trick for my next car trip. [Conceptual Devices] Keep reading »

Have A Very Techy Breakfast

This laptop table tray by Zyane Tan combines two of our favorite activities: eating and computing. Now we might not feel like such slobs when we usually get crumbs all over the keyboard while browsing the morning news. Too bad we don’t have an extra $3,000 handy. [Unplggd] Keep reading »

Not Quite: DIY Mac Power Cord Foot Warmer

Macs are some pretty hot computers. Literally. Somehow Steve Jobs hasn’t figured out how to make his machines function at a normal temperature, so toasting your lap with your MacBook Pro has become so normal, it’s practically a signature of the Apple brand. At first glance, this DIY pouch, which places your heat-generating power cord inside for you to snuggle up your feet next to, almost seems like an economic idea. Except for that it’s a safety concern to not properly ventilate your electronics … and we’d maybe be paranoid that doing this too often would give us foot cancer. (If, that is, we don’t already have the lap kind.) [Geekologie] Keep reading »

Decipher These Designs In Disguise

Appearances can be deceiving, as we were reminded this morning when twice our eyes did double takes while doing our daily style scroll. Could you tell what these products are hiding as? Example one: Issey Miyake’s latest treat is a T-shirt for Opening Ceremony that comes packaged in the likeness of a chocolate bar. Although this made us pause—which did we want more? A T-shirt or chocolate? Chocolate. [Fashion Week Daily]

Up top, laptop sleeves made from old sweaters for a reasonable $20 by designer Davey Sommers. (Or, an innovative DIY method of recycling the goods in your giveaway pile if you’re handy with a needle.) [Style Frizz] Keep reading »

Computers Can Now Get Salon Treatments With OPI

Or, um, something like that. Remember last week when we mentioned that Dell collaborated with artists to create a series of chic laptop designs? They’re at it again, but this time, their partnership is aimed at nerdy beauty junkies. Nail company OPI worked with Dell to create a line of laptops based on famous polish colors, such as the cult classic “I’m Not Really A Waitress” (here). Six shades are launching in November just in time for the holidays, and 20 more will roll out over the course of next year. Huh. We never in a million years could have foreseen this. But there you have it. Keep reading »
