Fall Head Over Heels For Lancôme Rouge In Love

BTD: Colorstay Lipstick
Winona loves Revlon's Colorstay Lipstick. Read More »

I love lipstick, possibly to a point of obsession and definitely to a point of monetary drain. The more luxurious (and French), the better — Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté, Chantecaille Lip Chic, Guerlain Rouge Automatique… be still, my beating heart. I maintain that the last testament to my sanity is the fact that I’ve held off on purchasing an exorbitantly priced yet allegedly unprecedented Tom Ford Private Blend (though the fateful day I make one my own is indeed on the horizon). I’ve never fallen in love with a Lancôme lipstick, but their brand new formula may just become my latest squeeze. The collection, intended to be supremely moisturizing and lightweight, comes in three categories: “Jolis Matins” are fresh and glossy for daytime, “Boudoir Time” promises high-impact brights and evening-appropriate offerings, and “Tonight Is My Night” claims the more sophisticated, intense shades for a lacquered effect. I can’t wait to get my hands on these — I plan on picking up 146B Miss Coquelicot, 322M Corail In Love, and 200B Lasting Kiss, which Julia Roberts wore this weekend to the premiere of her new flick. At $25, they aren’t exactly pocket change, but hey, they still won’t set you back almost $50 like a Guerlain or that elusive Tom Ford. If you’re a drugstore girl looking to delve into the world of luxury lipsticks, Rouge In Love is the perfect place to start. [$25, Sephora]

The trick to getting lipstick to last. Read More »

Is there any reason not to love Kate Winslet? She’s gorgeous, clever, and charming, not to mention one of the most compelling actresses in movies today. Kate also saved Richard Branson’s mother from a fire, making her a veritable saint. Fans of the British actress will also know that she has been the face of Lancôme for quite some time now. Over the summer, the French beauty brand announced plans to team up with Winslet in creating a makeup line that would serve to raise money and awareness for Kate’s charity, the Golden Hat Foundation, whose mission is to help children with autism in communicating more effectively. Kate and Lancôme have created a beautiful collection that goes hand in hand with a beautiful cause. The name of the line is, appropriately, Golden Hat, and it features a blush palette, a red lipstick, and a red nail lacquer. The blush, otherwise a pale pink, features the foundation’s emblem (a golden hat!). These offerings look lovely and I really enjoy Kate’s personal touches on the packaging. At least 150,000 euros (about $207,000) of the sale profits will be donated to the charity. [FashionIndie]

Great Skin, Even Better Cause

What benefits children with cancer and gives you skin like Christina Hendricks, Julia Roberts, and Veronica Webb? Why, Lancôme Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate! A favorite amongst celebrities, this serum improves skin tone, texture, and luminosity in just seven days with the help of gene technology, according to the beauty giant. Today, Oct. 21, Lancôme celebrates its second-annual Genes Day, a one-day national tribute to the beauty of scientific research, by donating $7 from every purchase of Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. So that’s great skin for you, and more funds for St. Jude to do its thing — help children dealing with cancer and other devastating diseases. [$58 to $125, Macy’s]

Julia Roberts Is Too Airbrushed For The U.K.

Julia Roberts airbrushing ad photo

Breaking News: Julia Roberts and model Christy Turlington — both women in their 40s — are not the dewy, fresh-faced nymphs these ads for Maybelline and Lancome would have you believe. In fact, these airbrushed within-an-inch-of-their-lives ads have gotten both cosmetics companies in trouble with the United Kingdom’s Advertising Standards Authority, which regulates truth in advertising. Though Maybelline’s Christy Turlington ad features tiny print at the bottom which clarifies that the image offers an “illustrated effect” of how its product works, that wasn’t enough for the ASA. Ditto regarding Lancome’s ad, which the ASA claims did not “accurately illustrate what effect the product could achieve.” Further, the ASA couldn’t conclusively determine whether digital retouching had been used to alter the image. Kate Winset Wants to Do It With Some Lipstick

Okay we get it, sex sells. But this Lancome commercial would have us believe that Kate Winslet really wants to have sexytimes with some lipstick. Watch as she writhes around on the floor in the nude with a set of the glosses and seductively puts a swipe of the stuff on her maw. No thanks–we prefer real sex to makeup sex.
