When Lady Gaga has a hip replacement, you’d better believe she’s going to roll out of the recovery room in a couture wheelchair. And naturally, Terry Richardson will be waiting there to photograph her in it.

Instead of hobbling around on crutches like most of us would after her recent hip replacement, the singer is recovering in a one-of-a-kind, 24-karat gold apparatus designed by Ken Borochov of luxury brand Mordekai. Her golden wheelchair is complete with a black tufted calf leather seat, a removable leather canopy, padded leg rests and gold-plated brakes. Keep reading »

I know that lambasting Lady Gaga for her wacky outfits is sort of passe. After all, this is her bread and butter. The mead upon which she fortifies herself. However, when Ms. Ga-ga insists on dressing like Edina from “Absolutely Fabulous,” well, I’m going to say something. And where does one go in such an ensemble? A 1970s garden party? An encounter session in the dessert? A cruise around San Diego Bay? If you’re Gaga, you go to a children’s clothing store — she was spotted in this get up heading into Kitson Kids, natch. Lady Gaga Was A Fan Of Lindsay Lohan’s Performance In “Liz & Dick”

Lindsay Lohan and Lady Gaga have let their friendship be known, as they often exchange tweets and they’ve been seen together at the Chateau Marmont.

But now the “Born This Way” singer is coming to Lohan’s defense when it comes to her harsh reviews from her Lifetime film “Liz and Dick,” her first stop on her attempted road at a comeback following years of personal turmoil.

The film, which aired on Lifetime on Sunday night, drew in mediocre ratings for the network, but Lohan was slammed in the media for her portrayal of Elizabeth Taylor. Read more…

“You know what’s so funny is, I actually think there’s a new feminism that is completely different and I don’t think either is better or worse. Any kind of feminist has valid views for herself about what it means to be a feminist, but, as a new-age feminist, I would say I quite like the transference of strength I feel by submitting to a man – being under him. I actually wrote a song about it on my album, it’s called “GUY” and it stands for “Go Under You.” So wearing makeup, smelling delicious and having suckable, kissable, edible things between your limbs is something I find strengthening because I know that when I pick the right guy, I can let him have it. Some women feel oppressed by make-up and clothing, and here’s to them, they have every right to feel that way as well.”

– Lady Gaga actually says the resonant thing about feminism — to me — that that I’ve heard a pop star say. Yes, it’s possible to be a savvy businesswoman and multi-million-record-selling pop star but also submit to a man in the bedroom for sexual fantasy! And yes, it’s possible to be a feminist and choose to wear makeup! And yes, it’s possible to be a feminist and choose not to wear makeup! I don’t know quite what Gaga is rambling about with the “suckable, kissable, edible things between your limbs” part, though. Guess she likes to play with her food? (Ironically, however, this photo was taken while she was visiting accused rapist/Wikileaks founder Julian Assange in London, proving there is no “perfect feminist.”) [Stylist UK] [Photo: Bauer-Griffin]

When Dr. Kathleen Pryer and her team at Duke University’s herbarium discovered a new species of fern that produces spores that grow into male, female, or bisexual plants, their minds turned to–who else?–Lady Gaga. “We wanted to name this genus for Lady Gaga because of her fervent defense of equality and individual expression,” said Pryer. “And as we started to consider it, the ferns themselves gave us more reasons why it was a good choice.” One of those reasons was in the plant’s genetic code: when a graduate student discovered the sequence “GAGA” in the fern’s base pairs, it seemed only obvious that the plants would be named “Gaga germanotta” (Gaga’s real name is Stefani Germanotta) and “Gaga monstraparva” (translation: “Little monster”). “‘Born this Way’ is enormously empowering,” adds Dr. Pryer, “especially for disenfranchised people and communities like LGBT, ethnic groups, women — and scientists who study odd ferns!”

I’d just like to say that my new life goal is to have a “Born This Way” dance party at the Duke herbarium. Botanists know how to party. [Rolling Stone]
