Marc Jacobs Thinks Celebrities Are “Boring”

Marc Jacobs and business partner Robert Duffy are banning celebrities from their shows at Fashion Week. For many of us, watching the who’s who of the front row is almost as exhilarating as seeing the latest fall collection, but according to Duffy celebrities are just “boring.” Granted, the team claimed that celebrities were verboten last year, even though we saw a spike-faced Lady Gaga and Madonna chillin’ by the runway. Apparently the Gaga was given special exemption from the “boring celebrity” rule because (besides the fact that she is ANYTHING but boring) the diva was headlining the after party. As for Madge … she just showed up uninvited. [NYmag.com] Keep reading »

Gaga Dolla Bills, Ya’ll

I love Lady Gaga just as much as everyone else. But there’s a surefire way to kill a good thing, and that’s overexposure. Right about now, I’m thinking we should take it easy on the Gaga obsession, for fear that we’ll become sick of her like a bad romance. Despite my fears, Craig Gleason got a bit creative with her over-the-top outfits and headpieces, and upped her importance to presidential status. Instead of leaving good old George Washington on the dollar bills, Craig painted over our first President, turning the founding father into the Fame Monster. We’re especially loving the replication of her V cover and her Mickey Mouse sunnies. You can purchase a framed set of three for $30. [Rakk and Ruin via Refinery29] Keep reading »

Is This A Viral Video For Christina Aguilera’s Next Album?

It’s unclear who created these videos and why, but rumors are swirling that these very strange short promotional videos are teaser spots intended to virally hype Christina Aguilera‘s upcoming album, Bionic, which is slated for an April release. If they are, Lady Marmalade has certainly gone off in a whole new direction. For this album, she’s reportedly worked with Sia, Goldfrapp, Santigold, Ladytron, and M.I.A., so it’s possible that she’s going for some sort of out-there sound/feel that follows in the freaky footsteps of, say, Lady Gaga’s success being a professional singing weirdo. Either way, the videos sure are strange: symbolic, oozing white goo, some chick flailing around in the mud, and this lady licking a tree. What does it all mean? No clue. But if it’s designed to get our attention, it has succeeded. Check out the other odd video after the jump, and sound off in the comments on whether you think it’s Aguilera or not. Keep reading »

New Alexander McQueen Ads Feature Snakes On A Model

Gah! It’s the new ad campaign for Alexander McQueen‘s spring/summer 2010 collection. Starring Raquel Zimmermann and shot by Nick Knight, the image joins the models-lying-down trend with a nod (as our style editor Erin points out) to Richard Avedon’s infamous portrait of Natassja Kinski. Check out a bigger (rotated) version after the jump for a close-up. Keep reading »

Makeup Tutorial: How To Create Lady Gaga Anime Eyes

Michelle Phan videos are oddly mesmerizing. But combine her soothing voice with ultra-scary Lady Gaga googly eyes à la “Bad Romance,” and you’ve got viral gold, baby. At around the point where she’s talking about her boiled wig and the circle contacts — and you’re still watching — you know the trance has fully set in. Happy Friday. [BuzzFeed] Keep reading »

Lady Gaga Invades “Oprah”

On Friday Lady Gaga appeared on “Oprah” for the first time, sitting down with the talk show queen to discuss her sudden success, as well as performing a few of her hit songs. She talked to Oprah about being inspired to write “Paparazzi” about Princess Diana, the origin of her name (the Queen song “Radio Gaga”), and what in the hell is going on with her outlandish costumes and everyday style. Check out part of the interview as well as her performance, after the jump. In the photo above, Oprah does her best Gaga impression. Not bad, but needs more blood. Keep reading »

Quotable: An Exhausted Lady Gaga Loves Her Little Monsters

Lady Gaga was forced to cancel a performance last night at Purdue University an hour before the show (and after the opening acts played) when she suddenly felt dizzy and was having trouble breathing. She felt horrible about canceling and took to her Twitter page to apologize to her fans:

“I’ve been crying for hours, I feel like I let my fans down 2nite. An hour before the show, I was feeling dizzy and having trouble breathing”
“Paramedics came to take care of me, and told me my heart-rate was irregular– a result of exhaustion and dehydration”
“Can’t apologize enough for how sorry I am. I could hear my fans cheering from my dressing room, I begged everyone to let me go onstage.”
“My stage has complicated mechanical elements, everyone was concerned I’d be in danger during the 2hr show, since I had passed out earlier.”
“I am so devastated. I have performed with the flu, a cold, strep throat: I would never cancel a show just based on discomfort.”
“I hope you can forgive me. I love my little monsters more than anything, you are everything to me. I will make-up the performance on Jan 26.”

Aw, Gaga, get some rest and quit beating yourself up! Your little monsters will still love you on the 26th. As long as you’re wearing something cray-cray. Keep reading »
